Urge them to support the Marlins stadium sales tax rebate amendment. Otherwise known as SB1426 amended to a bill (HB615) that grants the Orlando Magic the same sales tax rebate.

If this passes, it will go a long way to helping solve the funding gap that has derailed efforts to build a new stadium for the Marlins.

Here's a list of Florida senators:

CALL!!!

My 2 senators (I live in one's district and work in the other's) both have my comments.

How can I find out who the representative is in my Family's area? They live in Kendall...south of Town&County...

n/m I found it! :)

any tips on what to say really? I've never contacted a state rep... :mischief2

Just say you're a voting resident of the senator's district and that this is an issue you feel is very important for the continued success of the entire state of Florida. It shouldn't be a regional issue, with the kind of income a professional sports franchise can generate if run properly, what's good for part is good for all, since it creates income for the entire state, even if the ballpark is just in Miami/Hialeah.

Just call and say you're a resident of the Senator's district. You can give your name if you'd like or they ask. And simply say that you'd like to go on record as being in favor of Senate Bill 1426. You'll probably be speaking with an aide or receptionist, and that will be the end of the phone call. It takes 10 seconds, but it counts a lot. They keep tallies of how many people call in favor or against the various bills. If a senator gets 200 calls in favor, and 2 against, that could be the thing that sways his vote. Don't be worried about having to come up with reasons, or getting into a political or financial discussion, that won't happen, though if it does TSwift has written above what you can say. Thank you Rferry for providing the link to the list.

Unless your Senator is less-than-wonderful. Not the first time that office is rude though.

I hope everyone calls and emails their senators and representatives. It only takes a minute folks! :thumbup
