May 29, 200620 yr Stewart Sustains Fracture of Right Scapula: #20-Tony Stewart sustained a fracture of his right scapula in Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 Nextel Cup Series race when a flat right front tire sent his #20 Home Depot Chevy into the SAFER barrier on the outside retaining wall of turn one. Stewart was running in the 25th position when the accident happened on lap 33 of the 400-lap race. According to doctors at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC, a CT scan revealed a minimally displaced fracture at the tip of the right scapula. Stewart is scheduled to meet with Joe Gibbs Racing's team physicians on Tuesday for further evaluation. An update on Stewart's condition will be provided following that evaluation.(True Speed Communication PR)(5-28-2006) Eesh, tough situation for Tony. If he gets in another accident he could really hurt himself. I wouldn't drive for a while if I were him. Best wishes for Smoke.
May 29, 200620 yr Looks like we will only be seeing him drive the first couple laps each race for next few weeks
May 29, 200620 yr He's fourth in the point standings after last night. Personally I would give him a few weeks off and let him heal before coming back around the 4th at Daytona. I know he runs well on it, but I definately wouldn't bring him back for Infineon with all the left and right movements he would have to make there.
May 31, 200620 yr Author Just heard that Tony's going to make the start but Ricky Rudd is going to drive the rest of the race.
