My first Isotopes game of the year. My church is having their yearly outing and bought boxseats just to the right of homeplate. Cannot wait. Should be very fun.

Albuquerque and Memphis will hook up again on Saturday, with a 7:05 p.m. MT start at IsotopesPark. The ?Topes are set to send Nic Ungs (6-5, 3.48) to the slab, and the Redbirds will counter with former Isotope Travis Smith (1-1, 2.40).

Saturdays game includes a Beanie Bear giveaway to the first 3,000 fans courtesy Bank of the West and a breathtaking postgame fireworks show.

What time do you guys think we should get there to get the Beanie Bears? We are thinking about leaving around 5:30 and it takes about 25-30 minutes to get to the stadium not counting the time it takes to find parking.

Anyways, if you guys would like to know how Ungs looked I will be more then happy to tell ya.

Isotopes lost 6-5 but it was a fabulous game. Here's some notes I made during the game.

- Nic Ungs had a good outing despite giving up 2 doubles, a triple, and a homerun. He went 5 innings gave up 5 hits 2 Runs 1 ER 5 SO 1 BB. His velocity wasen't very good. It ranged from 78-86 MPH but it was mostly 81-83 MPH.

- Robert Andino and Scott Seabol both had rough nights in the field commiting 3 errors including two horrible throws to first by both of them.

- Eric Reed and Jason Wood both carried the offense tonight. Reed was 4 for 5 with 1 run 1 RBI and 1 SB. He also hit an absolute shot off the rightfield wall but it went foul at the last moment. Wood went 2 for 5 with 1 run 1 HR 3 RBI. Even the outs were hit very hard.

- Almost forgot, Reed was limping pretty bad before the game. I was really surprised he was in the starting lineup.

- Wes Wilkerson can throw some heat. Hit 96 and 97 on the radar gun multiple times. Overall his velocity ranged from 84-97 MPH. It was mostly 93+ for the short time he pitched. He did have control problems though.

- Catcher Tom Wilson got hit pretty hard on the side of the head from a back-swing. He was laying on the ground for a couple minutes dazed. It was really scary. All of his teammates from the infield came in to check on him. He was okay though and still finished the game.

Overall, very enjoyable.

Go Isotopes!

Good stuff...thanks dood

Didn't know Ungs didn't throw very hard at all. Maybe the radar gun was a little off?

nope...Ungs is a very soft pitcher.

Most scouts don't think he can get MLB hitters out (the reason he hasn't been recalled). He reminds me of a junk pitcher like Denny Neagle but has awesome control.

I hope he gets a chance in the bigs someday because the guy just knows how to pitch.
