June 14, 200620 yr http://sbe.virginiainteractive.org/index.htm For those people who say the democratic party is hijacked by the dailykos liberal wing of the party, here is some evidence that there is still an open tent to it. Jim Webb won the dem nomination for Senate to go up against incumbent George Allen. Webb is the former Secretary of the Navy under Ronald Reagan. He has continously said he how much he admires Reagan. He is a Marine who fought in Vietnam and was not too happy with the way the anti-war movement treated soldiers. He is a democrat but voted for Bush in 2000 but Kerry in 2004. Suffice it to say he is not a liberal. He defeated Harris Miller who is considered a career politician and Webb is probably furthest from being a politician. He probably has the best chance of beating George Allen in 2006 which would derail a potential 2006 presidential candidate. This race could have major 2008 repercussions. Dodge take notice.
June 14, 200620 yr I'm definitely paying attention to this... I'm not sure who I would vote for in the Webb - Allen race.
June 14, 200620 yr They interviewed both Miller and Webb on 'Hardball' last week, and Miller seemed far too stuffy for me. Webb has been speaking out against the war for some time now.
June 14, 200620 yr Author Umm, DailyKos endorsed Webb. I know. But explaining why they dont only endorse based on ideology would have been too complicated.
