MIAMI -- Even in a season where the Marlins rank last among all Major League teams in attendance, Miguel Cabrera is still getting plenty of attention when it comes to the All-Star Game.

 

The Marlins' 23-year-old phenom ranks fourth among National League third basemen in the All-Star Game balloting. With 450,276 votes, Cabrera is ahead of Atlanta's Chipper Jones, who is fifth with 424,300.

 

David Wright of the Mets paces all NL third basemen with 1,018,804 votes. Scott Rolen of the Cardinals (819,390) and Morgan Ensberg of the Astros (531,479) are second and third, respectively.

 

Already a two-time All-Star, chances are good Cabrera will be selected for the third straight season. As an outfielder the past two years, the Venezuelan native was voted in by the players, coaches and managers.

 

Based on his overall numbers, he again is All-Star worthy.

 

Cabrera ranks fourth in the National League in batting average (.342). He has 10 home runs, 45 RBIs and an on-base percentage of .391. His slugging percentage is .568.

 

As the primary weapon in a young and improving Marlins lineup, Cabrera is clearly the batter opponents don't want to face. His 40 walks are tops of any third baseman in the NL.

 

Another Marlin worthy of All-Star consideration is second baseman Dan Uggla, who isn't ranked in the top five in the voting.

 

The rookie is batting .314 and leads the club in home runs (12), to go along with 42 RBIs.

 

Uggla is certainly making a name for himself, and fans will get a chance to chat with him exclusively on MLB.com on June 27, when the second baseman will host a 3 p.m. ET chat.

 

Stadium voting for the All-Star Game, set to be played at PNC Park in Pittsburgh on July 11, ended Sunday, June 18, at Dolphin Stadium. Fans, however, can still vote online at MLB.com and www.floridamarlins.com until June 29.
