June 23, 200620 yr If you want to hear what I thought of this film, then open the Spoiler tag below. From the trailers for this movie, I figured that it would be better than the last few Sandler movies. Unfortunately I was wrong. Much in the same way "Bruce Almighty" couldn't decide whether it was going to be a comedy or a drama, "Click" has a worse case of movie schitzophrenia. The majority of what was in the trailer shows up in the first third of the film, where Sandler uses the remote to fool around and skip through things he hates, like dinner with his parents and sex (apparently because he was tired or something). Then he starts skipping forward in time, first until he gets over a cold, and then until his next promotion (which takes a year). Eventually his life slowly unravels as the remote fast-forwards on its' own, with his life on autopilot in his absence. He gets extremely overweight, has cancer and several heart attacks, loses his wife to another man, and watches his kids become adults. His dad also passes away without him knowing until years later. Christopher Walken, who we initially find in a workshop at the back of a Bed, Bath, and Beyond store, later tells Sandler that he is the Angel of Death (although it is never explained the point of this admission). Finally, 20 or so years in the future, he dies in a desperate attempt to keep his son from putting work ahead of family like he did. What kills everything (and I saw coming), is that the entire remote control thing (90% of the movie) turns out to be a dream. The movie ends almost identically to "It's a Wonderful Life", where Sandler learns his lesson of not putting his job before his family. At best this movie is worth a rental, but I wouldn't recommend it.
