October 5, 200322 yr Both teams got off to a horrible start, but were able to rebound and eventually win a tight wild card race, but the real connection in the numbers lies in the postseason: Game 1 DS: Marlins lose--Angels lose Game 2 DS: Marlins win--Angels win Game 3 DS: Marlins win on a dramatic comeback--Angles win, dramatic comeback Game 4 DS: Marlins pull off upset on postseason favorites--Ditto But the numbers are not why the '02 Angels and '03 Fish are so like one another. It is because they both played with the same teamwork and never-say-die attitude that win ballgames. As Tim Salmon said "It's like we have 25 guys who can step up and win the ballgame for us". That's exactly how one feels about the Marlins. The Marlins, like last year's Angels, play a lost game in baseball. One more special than anything that Steinbrenner's money can't buy, or that Sabean's intellect can organize. A game that happens once every once in a while, that is never come by if sought.
October 5, 200322 yr Its too early for comparison yet. The Angels went on to win the Series...Marlins aren't there yet. Sure they both had equal numbers in the DS, but right now thats as far as you can compare the two. Should be fun in the NLCS though. :thumbup
