November 15, 200619 yr I've often thought to myself that neither GM was at fault in the Bowyer/Castillo trade but rather a young kid, trying to make it in the bigs, hid the injury he incurred during the last game of the season against KC, hoping by spring he would be okay and then found himself the centerpiece of a trade for Luis Castillo. Ryan is an ethical guy and I don't believe for a minute he would have traded Bowyer has he known he was hurt. It's similar in some ways to AJ Burnett refusing to acknowledge his injury until after he signed his first big contract. I just think in the case of Bowyer he didn't think about the consequences of his actions. Well, the injury aside, I was never a fan of the trade. To trade an all star 2B who is a prominent feature of the conversation for best player at his respective position for a closer prospect (those are shaky to begin with) and a young arm (so, how many of those do we have again?). The player most loyal to the franchise got the biggest shaft and lowest value. :thumbup

Wasn't their a trade once between the White Sox and some other team that received one of their players hurt, and the White Sox had to compensate for it? I am talking back in 98 or 99.

I got to imagine it's hard to prove that a player's old team knew of something significant that didn't show up in the physical the new team asked for.
