November 20, 200619 yr http://www.gothambaseball.com/news/1163997036.php The GM meetings are also a great way to establish to colleagues what one is willing to part with to acquire certain assets. In some cases, teams have already agreed to deals in principle, and are allowing each other to tweak their rosters before the Winter Meetings to announce them. We don't know who's making them, or who's going where in these kinds of deals, but we are hearing that several deals, major and minor were “completed in the last days of the conference. Tigers / Reds Talking? - Tigers' GM Dave Dombrowski's asking price for Jeremy Bonderman remains high, and most teams are now moving on to less expensive options. It's now looking as if he'll stay put. However, Detroit is still interested in Adam Dunn, but for a fraction of what Cincinnati GM Wayne Krivsky is demanding Bonderman) or a similar top of the rotation starter) in any return. According to team insiders, Krivsky was one of the GMs pestering the Marlins about Dontrelle Willis last week. It is a NY based rumors page and all. But it does put up some interesting things. I am not saying it is credible too much. So take it with a grain of salt. But, it is curious to consider what the deals completed out there might be. I doubt the Reds have anything we would move Willis to them for (except a deal involving bailey and bruce which I dont see happening).
November 20, 200619 yr I've come to the conclusion there is nothing that can be done to stop the New York print media from fanning the flames of a possible Dontrelle Willis acquisition. And as it trickles down to the bloggers and gadflies of the sport, it gets sillier and sillier. Tomorrow it will probably be Ken Griffey Jr straight up for DW. It's endless.
