Posted May 25, 200717 yr This is driving me nuts! I love the idea of batting Hanley Ramirez third so that we can take advantage of his skills as a hitter....but.....not if the Marlins can't find someone that can get on base as the leadoff hitter. Doesn't Fredi Gonzalez realize that the leadoff hitter bats the most times over the course of a season? With that in mind, why in the world are the two worst hitters on the Marlins splitting leadoff duties (Amezaga and Abercrombie). Shouldn't the Marlins consider leading off Aaron Boone or Jeremy Hermida? At least they are good major league hitters! :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead
May 25, 200717 yr Why, you ask? Because while a leadoff hitter does get up to bat the most, quite frankly, if one of those two is going to kill a rally in the bottom of the lineup, they can at least spread the offense more evenly in the lineup. Rather than having two black holes (A/A and Olivo) at the bottom, they spread it out so it does not hurt as much. And why are you complaining? Since the switch, I believe the Marlins are 7-2 or 7-3.
