It's too bad Matt is stuck in a town in which he gets barely any national coverage, guy sounds amazing.

Sounds familiar doesn't it? Goes back to my idea that each team must have at least 1-3 nationally televised games each year. More exposure for great players.

Oh btw I hate this new category players are put in these days called "Most exciting"

 

Sounds like a runner up category to me when your not the best SS in the league.

That's true, Jon and also when we're wondering why other fans are not paying attention to our emerging superstars (i.e. Hanley and Cabs), they're busy trying to tell us why their emerging superstars deserve attention too (i.e. Holliday, Haren, Gorzy, etc.)

 

Unfortunately, ESPN will only try to appeal to the "major" markets.

I don't know if I'd put Hanley at 2nd best baserunner tho, although I'm all for him getting some pub.

Let me guess the national media kissing Jose reyes's ass? To me HanRam is more exciting than reyes because he can do everything Reyes does, except he's got tons of more power.

I'm not really getting how Matt Holiday can be regarded as the player with the best hitting tools in the National League. He's a great hitter, don't get me wrong, but his past performance doesn't make him better than Pujols or Cabrera, nor does his future projection. He's as old as Pujols and 3 years older than Miggy. For the past 4 years, both Pujols and Cabrera have slugged at a higher rate and hit for a higher average than Holiday (except this year, where Pujols is 18 points below his .336 average and Cabrera is tied). He's a great hitter having a phenomenal year, but the best? I don't think so.

 

I also don't see how he's the 3rd most exciting player in the League. His game is nothing like that of Ramirez and Reyes. He's a relatively slow corner outfielder that hits very well. He doesn't steal, he's not flashy in the field, and he's certainly the odd man out on this list.

 

All in all, he deserves to be mentioned as one of the top players in the NL, but let's not inflate him to more than he is.

Absolutely. I couldn't take the rest of the poll serious when I saw that. Great hitter, but no way is he better than Cabs and Pujols.
