Brandon Phillips is a Stud

I hate that so much.

It's impossible to plug stats into a computer a say what would happen.

That ballpark factor doesn't hold water.

Here are Phillips' home and road splits.

Home:.265/.308/.471/.779

Road:.309/.346/.525/.871

Must be because he plays in GABP.

It's impossible to say what would happen, but you can say the ballpark helps his numbers. If he didn't play at GABP his home numbers would be even worse. Regardless of if he does better on the road, it still helps him at home, just like playing at DS hurts Uggla, regardless of how much better he does there.

There's a reason Uggla's park adjusted stats have him as a better player than Phillips. He plays in an environment where 1 run is worth more.

Honestly, that makes no sense.

He obviously doesn't play in parks that are as good of hitters parks on the road, but his numbers are still better. So how can you assume his numbers would be worse if he played in a worse hitters park at home? Not sure how DS hurts Uggla when he preforms better there.

The home/road splits don't support your argument.

I'm not too worried about the splits, to be honest. Splits don't really tell you the "why" of something. They don't change the fact that Uggla plays half of his games in a generally unfavorable offensive environment. Maybe their numbers wouldn't change, but it does change their value. Phillips plays in a park where it takes more runs to win a game, so every hit, home run, SB, etc. counts for less.

GABP is 8th in runs, and D.S. is 11th per espn.com park factor.

Not some huge difference, and D.S. actually surrenders more hits.

Park factors over the course of a season are pretty meaningless, due to many factors. It's much easier to get a read on it over the course of 3 or 4 seasons.

Over the last 4 years (runs scored):

DS: 11th, 28, 26, 27

GABP: 8th, 1st, 3rd, 28th

GABP is a much better hitter's park, but because the Marlins' pitching staff is so awful, it skews the stats towards hitters this year.

Oh yeah, the Reds pitching staff has been winning Cy Young's the last 4 years.

Hey, how about this. You are a huge homer. As am I. Neither of us is going to concede the other is right (mostly because you are wrong :mischief ). It's not worth running in circles for.

Yes, that sounds good to me.

Oh yeah, the Reds pitching staff has been winning Cy Young's the last 4 years.

But you are on record as saying that Harang-Arroyo is the best 1-2 punch in the NL, if not baseball.

Last year, they were.
