October 21, 200323 yr The media bias against the Marlins has been bad ever since they crashed into the playoff contention in August. One fine example was Beckett's pitching performance last Sunday (best of the postseason then, and arguably challenged by Pettite's last night) being ignored in favor of announcing that the Cubs would dominate with Prior and/or Wood. There are many more. From the media's obsession with Thome, Veterans Stadium, and Barry Bonds. It's not like the Marlins are a boring team that only hits three-run homers and has a patchwork pitching staff like half of the teams in the league. I saw Around The Horn today and nothing surprised me, but it didn't get me upset either. They were once again making their predictions. Some did not mention the Marlins at all. Some seemed not to know about baseball. Some shared the popular misconceptions of a postseason winning team (experience, starting pitching, bench over resilence, bullpen, bench and defense.) None were inflammatory. Except the host. The weasel Yankees fan. He, like the Giants and Cubs fans before him, suggested that the Yankees will be playing in front of Yankees fans in South Florida. It wasn't true about for Giants. It wasn't true for the Cubs (okay, maybe 5 thousand of 65.) And it's not going to be true for the Yankees.
