Production as far as HRs (although homers were down across the board) but the man had probably his best season. 171 OPS+ (A-Rod was at 177) .445 OBP (Led League, A-Rod was at .422) | 111 BB to 103 Ks .621 SLG% (3rd in League) I'm absolutely not saying Ortiz is more deserving than Rodriguez, just that Ortiz was the clear number 2 to me. The fact that he posted a .332/.445/.621 line with a knee that was very bad and required surgery shortly after the season.

No surprise there. What's the big deal? ARod deserved it more but it's not as ridiculous as votign for Rollins who will get the NL MVP in a few minutes.

November 20, 200718 yr I don't see the big deal. They saw the guy play day in and day out. Not like it's the award for best player in the AL, anyways.
November 21, 200718 yr I probably would have voted Ordonez 2nd and Ortiz 3rd. Ordonez carried that team for a really long stretch during the season. I think the bigger surprise is Vlad getting chosen higher than Ortiz but - as has already been said - nothing below #1 counts for much anyway.
