83Gator
Roberto hernandez signed with the braves that was a nice pick up and now smoltz can go back to being a starter while hernadez is the closer! You should actually read some of the articles you post. Here's a quote from the article ... With John Smoltz entrenched in the closer's role, Hernandez will likely be used as a setup man for the Braves. "That's what we see him as," Schuerholz said. "But that decision is up to [manager]Bobby [Cox]. Our scouts really like [Roberto]. We believe we have a real power arm to set John Smoltz up." Roberto Hernandez can no longer be trusted to be a closer, and certainly not with a contending team. He's a good pick up for a team that lost a lot of bullpen talent this off-season but they shouldn't let him anywhere near the closer role. AJBurnett34
Didnt you hear Smoltz. He said he doesnt want to be a closer and wants to be back in the starting rotation I think thye hsould put hernandez to close out games.Since he would be under Leo's conditioning program then maybe he will do better! Rune
Hernandez in my opinion seems like a lazy ignorant a**hole. I do not know but I see another Alfonseca situation happening where there is an argument somewhere down the road.
DurableTear
Hernandez isn't great quality... he's fair quality and this won't fix the Braves unusally weak bullpen this year.
AJBurnett34
Yea but it will help because he can improve..., Also he can also help because heis a veteran he should know how to pitch to batters by now even though he is lazy and all. Pudge-7
I think the Roberto should set up games. Smolts remains the closer, i want him to be a starter but it wont happen unless the Braves sign the former Dodger closer who retired last year whats his name again... 83Gator
I think the Roberto should set up games. Smolts remains the closer"] Jeff Shaw. Won't happen.
AJBurnett34
yep,Jeff shaw aint coming back....He has to go through training and workouts all over again and it will be too much work. Also what happens if Shaw messes up his arm again.....you got to think about that. I think smoltz should start. He wants to start and the braves probaly wont let him because there rotation is full since they signed ortiz and byrd.... Pudge-7
I did not say they would get him. I meant to say it would take that type of player to replace smolts. He is still 33 i think and could play but only wants to play for a team near his hometown.
