Great film, saw it the other day with my friends, so far it's the best Iraq war movie i've seen.

I think it's the best movie I've seen this year -- fantastic movie. I disagree about it being too long, it had me on the edge of my seat most of the movie. Very well done.

I don't think that scene was put in for suspense

The scene where James leaves the base is meant to show that his carelessness finally catching up to him. For the most part he had been getting through his deployment with little repercussion -- this was one of the first times in the movie we saw it get him into a situation that he was losing control over. In the scenes leading up to finding the body bomb, he's the one calm and cool and Sanborn and Eldridge are the ones losing control.

I also think it was meant to provide insight to James, for the most part we see him as this adrenaline junkie who prefers to live with no attachments to anyone. And here he is, trying to avenge the death of some kid only knows in passing.

Granted, it's a scene that could have been cut but it served it's purpose.
