JUPITER, FL (May 10, 2010) - Jupiter Hammerheads pitcher Kyle Kaminska was named Monday as the Florida State League's Pitcher of the Week for the period from May 3rd to the 9th.

Kaminska tossed a gem on Wednesday, May 5th in Fort Myers, allowing just three hits over eight scoreless innings. The righty struck out seven without allowing a walk.

Jupiter's parent club, the Florida Marlins, took a chance at luring Kaminska away from his commitment to play for Michigan State University, and it paid off as the Fish got a major talent in the 25th round of the 2007 June draft. In 2008, Kaminska threw a combined 94.1 innings for Greensboro and Jupiter, despite being just 19 year old. Last year, back in Greensboro, he finished second in innings (142.2), wins (9) and strikeouts (112), and led the starters with a 3.11 strikeout-to-walk ratio. This season, Kaminska is 1-2 with a 4.03 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 29 innings.

Congrats to a baby Marlin for winning this award!!!
