Borland Off 40 Man Roster soon.

Featured Replies

Marlins activated pitchers A.J. Burnett, Tim Spooneybarger, Armando Almanza and Toby Borland from the 60-day disabled list. Burnett has been mentioned as a non-tender candidate, but it looks like he's going to stay with the Marlins and Mark Redman will be the one to go. Spooneybarger figures to miss most or all of next season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Almanza likely will return to act as one of the Florida's lefty relievers. Borland will be booted off the 40-man roster soon.

I don't like the quote about Almanza. He better show his stuff in Spring Training. As for Borland....not a real surprise. It would be nice to re-sign him to a minor-league contract, though.

Aj shouldn't even be THOUGHT OF as a non-tender candidate. He will be sucked up so fast by another team it won't be funny and he still remains the most talented of our pitchers.

AJ is staying, never doubted that. To non tender him would be to lose him and the FO is not very keen on letting a talent like that go. Too much has been made in the media about our financial situation - but it is all wishful thinking and they are more or less excercising their hopes than actually doing journalism. Just look at Jurkchicken's (Kurkjian) article on Vlad in Baltimore for an example of that.
