Stadium story coming

Featured Replies

For those of you who read the Miami Herald online, make sure you check the Business Section as well for a piece on the Marlins proposed new stadium.

Here's the teaser from today's paper :

BEHIND THE MARLINS' STADIUM BID

The Herald examines how one of the poorest teams in baseball can pay

If you still have your gasmasks handy after the FTAA left town you might want to get it. This no doubt is going to be a real stinker. A quick read of the Sunday bulldog edition (scanned the first six graphs or so) at my local newsstand that it's another one of the Herald's "straw man" pieces - they set up certain questions, whether relevant or not, and then knock them down. For example, did the Marlins really lose $20 mil last year? Herald answer, probably not, but who knows because baseball doesn't open its books. Can they afford a new stadium? Maybe, but it might cost the Fish a starting pitcher down the line.

Figuring there was no reason to ruin the night I stopped reading, but look for it tomorrow.

At least they have changed from "how they can't pay" to "how they can pay."

I hope they don't start with the doom and gloom of lowering payroll and taxes going through the roof 'cause it ain't true.
