August 25, 201213 yr What is the significance of emphasizing that the expenses were "just under the deductible?" Either your parents or their employer, elected to pay far less in premiums per month and instead pay more upfront in the case of a serious medical issue. You do not appear to be grasping this. You paid your fair share. If you wanted to have to pay a lower deductible (or maybe just an ER copay), you would have needed to pay higher monthly premiums. What's the significance? The significance is that the health insurance that we pay to insure my health in case of an emergency didn't pay a single penny in the case of an emergency. Whatever. I'm not going to debate with you why insurance is a scam. You seem pretty set on standing firmly aside it, for some godly unknown reason. Just for the future, stop talking with such certainty. It's pretty insulting that you're trying to tell me what my words mean, and how little I know and how you know all about something. Think about it. If someone did that to you, you'd be annoyed too.
