Blazers trade Wells to Grizzlies

Featured Replies

According to sportsline.com, the Blazers traded G Bonzi Wells to the Grizzlies for G Wesley Person and a 2004 draft pick. Should be interesting to see if Hubie Brown can do for Wells what he did for Jason Williams.

that 2004 draft pick is a 1st round pick

Dont really like the trade for the Grizzlies. Dont understand it at all. Grizzlies being my favorite team after the Heat. I really dont get it. Ok you got Mike Miller who you just finish signing along with James Posey. You got a log jam at forward and center position with Lorezen Wright, Gasol, Swift, Tskaldics (or however u spell his name).

So what does this solve? IMO Absolutely nothing. But I guess we will see, Jerry West is one of the best and maybe he pulled something off with this.

The Grizz being my favorite team, I liked this trade. Person wasn't getting a lot of playing time, and his shooting hasn't been what it's been in years past. If Wells can get his act together, I think he'll be an important contributor. Here is what Dr. Jack Ramsey of ESPN.com has to say:

"Personnel-wise, this trade is a win for the Grizzlies because Bonzi Wells has a better all-around game than Wesley Person. Wells, 27, is also younger than Person, 32.

But morale-wise, this is something the Trail Blazers had to do. This deal should benefit the Blazers as they try to bring equilibrium to their team chemistry. Portland had to make a move because of the conflict between Wells and coach Maurice Cheeks.

Two weeks ago, Wells was stripped of his team captaincy and suspended two games for cursing at Cheeks after being removed from a game. Given this situation, I'm not at all surprised by this trade. Clearly, Portland had to move Wells.

The Blazers miss Scottie Pippen's influence. There seems to be even more unrest on the team this season. Last season, Pippen (now with the Bulls) helped to keep the locker room in order and also was a leader on the court.

I expect Wells to start for Memphis along with Jason Williams and Mike Miller on the perimeter. The wild card for Portland is the first-round draft choice, which probably will be a middle-of-the-pack pick (the Grizzlies are currently 8-8)."

I just can't see Bonzo in a Grizzlies uni :lol

I think the trade did benefit both teams. The Jailblazers got a better attitude and the Griz got a better shot. Guess it works out

USA Today said that this next year's draft class isn't anything to get excited over, so losing what probably would be a middle-of-the-pack pick doesn't seem to bad. And if the Grizz end up with a pick in the top 3 (not likely), they can elect to keep it. I'm liking this trade more and more.

I like it only if Bonzi brings a postive attitude to the GRizz if not, dammmmmmm

but remember J.Will was a bad boy, he ainit that bad no mo...... maybe Hube will change bonzi.....

i like da grizz too man, there up and coming, but my fav team is da Hornets...
