  1. I think Atonement was very deserving. Sucks though that Juno didn't get anything.
  2. College Algebra, English, Western Civ, and Intro Comp class. Prereqs, FTL :banghead
  3. let me ask you guys something. I took many ap courses in highschool, and fsu accepted all of them, so I came in with 21 credits. I can graduate in about 2 and a half more years if i take 4 classes a semester. Would graduating early be a mistake that I would regret? this would be a no-brainer for me. the earlier you can get into the work field and work your way up, the better. don't waste your time going part-time, you'll regret sticking around. i don't see the point of lingering around just for more 'college experience'.
  4. yeah this is why we have an NBA discussion thread....
  5. I'm a hopeless romantic so I've got tons. Here are a few although you might need to like the type of music for some of them. "I Will Show You Love" - Kendall Payne "The Blower's Daughter" - Damien Rice "Forever Love" - Anna Nalick "It's Good To Be In Love" - Frou Frou "Together" - The Kin "Silver Lining" - Rilo Kiley "The Special Two" - Missy Higgins "And Darling" - Tegan and Sara "The Start of Something" - Voxtrot "A Good Start" - Maria Taylor
  6. haha that would classify as "something going wrong" considering my boyfriend is gonna be there. would it be cheating if we were both involved? :mischief
  7. partayy, haven't had alcohol in months. got out of working tomorrow morning so i'm good to go. it's just a get together of friends so nothing should go wrong.

    What is your faith?

Yeah you're right, I'm kind of twisting my own meaning into it. I see agnostic kind of as a middle ground between religious and aethist. But I'm aware it doesn't specifically mean you believe in anything, just that one acknowledges something greater COULD be out there but that it can never be proven. Anyway, as for me, I don't really believe in a God, per se, at least not as a fully conscious entity, as most of the popular organized religions would have it, but I do believe that people are made of more than just a bunch of molecules and chemicals, that our thoughts and actions are more than just the product of chemical interactions. There's something that liberates us from the prison of scientific inevitability, we are in control of our own destinies. So, I guess, in that sense, I'm at least minimally spiritual. I totally agree with this so I guess I'm more spiritual than 'agnostic'. :lol But I just generally agree with the skepticism that agnosticism preaches (no pun intended).

I don't think agnosticism deserves consideration as a category. fair enough, nor would atheism if you're just selecting from a list of religions. why not? well first off, the OP asked 'faith' which is far more broad than the word 'religion'. so if you get technical, since agnostics still believe in something they still have some sort of faith, even if it is much lighter than an organized religion. and i think any poll regarding faith or religion should include aethism since you want to allow everybody to be able to vote. it's just a shorter way of saying "none of the above, no belief".

what i envy about religious people is that they are more at peace with dying. sometimes before i go to sleep, i find myself thinking about how one day it'll all be over and it's a scary thought when you don't have any beliefs in an afterlife or whatnot. I don't think religious people are more at peace about dying at all. I've met religious people who are petrified of death, and atheists who are quite comfortable with it. Death is just as unknown to the religious individual as it is to the secular individual. I don't believe in the afterlife at all, and death holds very little fear to me. good for you (no sarcasm). hopefully my fear will diminish with age but at the same time you'd think it'll get worse as i get closer to it :lol :confused and i wasn't making an all or nothing statement about religious people not being scared and vice versa. i guess i'm just saying i, personally, would probably feel more at ease if i had an idea of God. but maybe not, who really knows.

That is the main reason why most people become Christians or accept the Christian faith. But as for me, I repented of my sins and accepted Christ into my heart because I was tired of living a wicked life. yeah i don't blame them but it amazes me how they can convince themselves to believe something so deep unless born into it or genuinely inspired. i could tell myself over and over "it's okay, god will take care of me" but i don't think it will ever stick, unfortunately.

    What is your faith?

I consider myself an agnostic. A few years back I tried to get into praying and somewhat into christianity but it didn't feel right to just do it because it might be the right thing to do. So for right now I'm just sticking with a broad view and if it's meant to happen, it'll come to me instead of forcing it.
  14. ^hooray? and those are birth rates, right? meaning they don't even count abortions? Why would abortions count for fertility rates? Anyway, Russia sucks, it's a stupid country. He said 'pregnancy rates' so I just wanted him to clear up if this statistic only catered to teens actually carrying the child to term. Which would prove my point further that if the fertility rate is already a high number, imagine the numbers when you consider how many teens probably get abortions. But yeah, whatever. And um, yeah good assessment on Russia there.

  16. Putin is a massive douchebag and Russia in all its various incarnations has been a subpar lame-ass country that has sucked at its proverbial life for the last millennium. I also heard last night that they have a real problem with low fertility rate, as only 1 in 3 Russian women have even one child. We're up to 2.1 children per mother. i think that's a better problem to have than here where 16 year-olds pop out kids like there's no tomorrow.
  17. out of nowhere, i got in the christmas spirit and started buying my parents and boyfriend everything in sight. it feels good though and it's stuff they've wanted/needed for awhile but just never get around to buying.

    Dad of the year?

^I think the point was that those games are selling for ridiculous amounts and that the dad unintentionally got 9 grand richer. Dad of the year? No. Dumbest Australian of the year? Yes. This doesn't make any sense to me. The guy who bought the game off the dad paid $9,000 for it and was Australian.

    Be Kind Rewind

Coming out next month - starring Jack Black, Mos Def, Mia Farrow, Danny Glover. Creative premise and I think anyone who enjoys the classics can appreciate the movie. Not usually a fan of Jack Black but I'm excited for what seems like a laid back, fun comedy.

    Juno

I'm planning on watching it sooner or later. Unfortunately I won't be able to go to the free screening here next week :thumbdown but yeah, I think it'll keep me entertained. The trailer was so-so but it seems like Michael Cera has the same personality from 'Superbad' so it should be fun. My favorite line from the trailer was "Oh don't worry I'm already pregnant so what other shenanigans could I get into?" heheh
  21. I can't even remember the last time I saw a redhead down here. I agree though that they stand out more if they're beautiful than a brunette or blonde. My favorite has to be Kate Walsh, I love that bia. She's gorgeous.

    Coffee Break

can we stop calling him Pierre? i keep on thinking we're talking about some french dude. Do it. What do you have to lose? This is comming from a guy that looks like Harry Potter.... :mischief And this is coming from a guy who is posted a half naked picture of himself in a forum of mostly men? It's a great picture. what can I say. So your not denying putting the picture up for the men of the forum. Do you swing both ways? Theres girls here somewhere. :mis2 I'm not insecure like some people here as well

    Coffee Break

In my opinion, if you've never had a real conversation with this girl, giving her flowers is crossing a social boundary. +1 more. I also agree 100% that Izzy and Yenta are probably romanticizing this. Imagine this: Still think it's a good idea? I have to agree with Fox on this one, Yenta, if you aren't truly putting yourself in that girl's shoes, you aren't seeing the big picture. okay now you're just insulting bradcore :lol
