According to the Baltimore Sun, the Orioles are close to reaching agreement with former Rangers' first baseman Rafael Palmeiro, who played in Baltimore between 1994 and 1998. The two parties have reportedly agreed upon all elements except for whether the contract will be for two guaranteed seasons or one year with a 2005 option. "You can pretty much bet that deal's going to be made," a top Orioles' official told the Baltimore Sun. Palmeiro hit .260 with 38 home runs and 112 RBI in 154 games at first base and designated hitter last season.

Very, VERY good news for us.
