January 9, 200422 yr Devil Rays agreed to terms with first baseman Robert Fick, who had been with the Braves, on a one-year contract. Tampa Bay doesn't make a lot of sense for Fick, mainly because the team already has left-handed hitters at his three positions (actually, Jose Cruz Jr. is a switch-hitter) and Aubrey Huff is never going to need rest as a DH. Fick is clearly a better hitter than Carl Crawford and might be a modest improvement over Tino Martinez, but the Rays aren't going to let him compete for a starting job initially. You'll want to stay from both Fick and Martinez in AL-only leagues. /Rotoworld
