January 12, 200422 yr God I hate adding to these discussions because these lists are typically bulls***. But here's two thoughts: 1. Andy Pettitte is nowhere near as good as Kerry. 2. You really have it in for Dusty, don't you?

January 13, 200422 yr To all the people who say the Cubs bullpen is worse than the Cards and Astros, GET REAL. First, Billy Wagner was the linchpin of the Stros pen, and he's gone now...replaced with Brandon Duckworth. Dotel moves into the closer role, and he's great, but the Cubs got Hawkins so let's call that a wash. Who else do the Astros have? Brad Lidge? Overrated, despite the media focus on the Lidge to Dotel to Wagner system last year. Just look at the DWBL - he's frequently added and dropped. Same with Mike Gallo. Compare those two to Remlinger, the Farns, and Joe Borowski, and again, no contest. The Stros have good up and comers in Saarloos and the guys they got from Philly, Buchholz and Astacio. But the Cubs farm system has go-to guys such as Wellemeyer, Angel Guzman, and Andy Sisco. Lastly, the Cubs added by subtraction this offseason by jettisoning Alfie and Veres. The vaunted Astros bullpen is no more. And don't even get me started on those who labelled the Cards' pen as better. Jason Marquis? Ray King? Julian Tavarez???? Lincoln, Calero, and Eldred are decent, but the staff is still a mess. Favoring them over Borowski, Remlinger, Farns, Hawkins, and Cruz is nutso. So that's my rant.
