January 14, 200422 yr take a look at the bottom of floridamarlins.com poll asks who should bat cleanup? a. Lowell b. Cabrera c. Conine look whos winning.... Cabrera has really earned a name for himself....
January 14, 200422 yr i think those results are more by virtue of the fact that most of the voters barely know who mike lowell is apart from his mediocre playoff performance. mikey is all around more qualified than cabs to bat cleanup... both in slug and in average. as of now, he's our best hitter.
January 14, 200422 yr Cabs was our clean up hitter in the playoffs and that worked didnt it. I say put Lowell in the 3 hole cuz he is a more mature and consistent than Cabs and will get more opportunities at the 3 hole to drive in runs.
January 14, 200422 yr A lot of idiots think Lowell isn't that good because of the playoffs, but from April-August he was the clear best 3b in baseball.
January 14, 200422 yr Cabs Numbers: Runners On= .328avg .365obp RISP= .375avg .396obp RISP w/2 outs= .381avg .422obp Lowell Numbers: Runners On= .289avg .369obp RISP= .302avg .384obp RISP w/2 outs= .246avg .352obp Looking at those stats I think they should put Cabs at the 3rd batter because you get more opportunities to drive in runs with Luis and Pierre in the top of the order.
January 14, 200422 yr Cabs Numbers: Runners On= .328avg .365obp RISP= .375avg .396obp RISP w/2 outs= .381avg .422obp :wow
January 14, 200422 yr Cabs Numbers: Runners On= .328avg .365obp RISP= .375avg .396obp RISP w/2 outs= .381avg .422obp :wow Yeah I was surprised too, didnt know he hit so well with men on base.
January 14, 200422 yr Cabs Numbers: Runners On= .328avg .365obp RISP= .375avg .396obp RISP w/2 outs= .381avg .422obp :wow Yeah I was surprised too, didnt know he hit so well with men on base. you really can't compute any meaningful sort of batting average when a guy has less than 150 ABs with runners on. relying on a RISP batting average with less than 100 ABs is even more fruitless. if cabs had grounded, flied, struck out 5 more times than he did, his average would have gone down by more than 50 points.
January 14, 200422 yr Either way if you look at his batting average without men on base its a lot worse, so maybe he doesnt mind hitting with men on base unlike some players. i.e mondesi
January 14, 200422 yr After losing Pudge I thought that Cabs hitting 3rd was too much pressure for the young man, but at this point we do not have any other good alternatives. So I agree. Pierre, Castillo, Cabs, Lowell Heck, Cabs has responded and performed A+ to every challenge that we have thrown his way, Play 3rd, SS, LF, RF, and cleanup on a WS!
January 15, 200422 yr Mike Mordecai should be the Cleanup Hitter in Extra's. Always 100% with you :lol
January 15, 200422 yr i dont mind the Cabs, Lowell , Conine idea but i think it might be too much pressure to start the year batting third ... another option is Conine at the 3 hole, hes a really good clutch hitter and hes very opportunistic, but Lowell takes my vote at cleanup since we really dont have a cleanup hitter ... unless Cabs really becomes Pujols-like in the first month of the season
