  1. now THATS what i call a rumor! always trying to stay positive but that sounds too good to be true considering all that has happened. And since when do ushers get the inside word on anything?
  2. the key line there is that they'll open the pocketbooks if they're contending around the trade deadline. Post writers have never shown love to any Marlins, why start with Willis?
  3. You tell me who gets pissed off in from of all the fans and breaks his bat against the batting cage! I was just saying maybe not that I think but why the attitude from the forum. Jeeze! maybe he was pissed he wasn't getting around on the ball or maybe he just found out he lost an Ebay auction or something. He's there to play ball, not to smile and wink at you for 3 hours. It seems like you've squeezed about as much from him as one fan could anyway so you might as well take the (very minor) bad with the goldmine of good he's already given you. How nice would you be when kids/adults "throw their glove into the players chest" to get them to sign? I'm sure that never gets old.

  5. none of you were wearing Marlins stuff before 2003? Pretty dickish remark from daveyboy. I've been rocking my fishwear since 92 but then again, I'm a useless fan outside of Florida so I guess it doesn't matter. That guy just irks the hell out of me. Sweet pictures though! Thanks!!
  6. yeah, posting lines from a hashed over site takes a ton of originality. i'd rather read a new sorta funny one
  7. ya, not as good as it sounds. The feds still say you can't have it. But it is a sign of changing opinions.
  8. It was black and white, no color. The "CJ"
  9. canes lost dood. i gotta go with hugg on this one. I didn't like the OT call, even though the call is legit for the impede even if there was no interferece. Just take joy in knowing how well Maurice turned out. Thats what i do.

on Leno they showed a "leftover brussel sprout from Christmas dinner" that sold for over 2k on ebay.
  11. true, shanny got a lot of heat for sticking his neck out like he did on Clarett but he took it like a man. "its a shame to waste a 3rd. round pick like that" lol They'll be looking to upgrade that Oline i believe in the draft as Bell looks to emerge as the premier #1 next year. Anderson is at "the age" and well, you all know the injury past. Dayne may be back next year for 3rd downs ala Thunder/Lightening but i wouldn't be shocked at all to see a mid round pick used on a back. Also, i don't see Ricky as much of a gamble. Besides, we got some bomb ass weed here.
  12. i wouldn't put it past the broncos. Shanny likes to gamble - see Clarrett, Maurice and Rice, Jerry. Granted the Oline is awesome but it's also aging. Nalen is winding down and he's been the rock. I think putting a back in there who still has plenty of good years ahead of him who hasn't had any serious injuries makes sense. Then again, we do have Tatum.
  13. ft. sumner is where billy the kid is "buried" i used to drive thru there every weekend.
  14. i'll get to see him grow up now
  15. ?He can hit, and second base is a need for us,? Marlins vice president of player development and scouting Jim Fleming said. ?He enhanced his value to us at the Arizona Fall League. With what?s gone on the last few days (for the Marlins), yeah, he?s got a chance.?
  16. good. Closser had plenty of time this year, he's overrated in my mind.
  17. The rockies get 0 support from most local media outlets, the owners are ripped relentlessly (the last few years anyway) for not spending any real money AND STILL they draw 24k+ a night. The radio guys here even lambast the fans who still attend the games because they're still supporting the "greedy, cheap ownership" (they are relying on their system and making a buck, nothing wrong with that in my eyes). The Reason people still go? Coors Field. I live about 5 minutes from the field and on gamedays i can see baseball in the streets. People were genuinely still excited on game days last year even when the rox were 20 games out. This is a football town much like Miami but if the rox can do this well on the merits of their stadium I could only imagie how Florida would respond. The team is meh, the pitching will never be great due to the altitude but people will still come because of the comforts of Coors. Tickets are reasonable, food is good, and the beer - well, the beer is damn cold.
  18. Everybody who goes to the town meeting, let's pass out some sort of flyer for our own independent group meeting to dicuss options. I will produce flyers if everybody likes. We have to discuss what we can do as we have sizeable investments in the marlins (myself over $4600 next year) and we have a right to decide, whether Loria and evil midget like it or not, to help decide the destiny of the Marlins or GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK!!!!! The team is GUTTED! we can't do anything about that but collectively we can at least try and make our case for what WE THE FANS actually want to happen. Please. Everybody. We have to be visible right now or we will lose the Marlins. Well, if you really, really want to lose the Marlins, then go out and try to sue the Marlins to get your money back. I really have no patience for you guys whining about your season tickets. Last year, I bought season tickets to see the Washington Nationals, knowing full well that they'd be a brutal baseball team (they actually played a lot better than expected). I bought the season tickets so: 1) I could save a spot in line for the new stadium (if it ever gets built -- sound familiar?) and 2) because I love baseball. I bought the season tickets knowing full well that the Nats would get crushed in most of their games (of course, as I am first and foremost a Marlins fan, I was more than happy to watch the Marlins beat the hell out of the Nats). For those of you complaining you were given the bait and switch, well, I really have no pity for you at all. You should have known that when the baseball stadium plan failed that the Marlins would go into full salary dump mode. You should have believed them when they said -- over and over again -- that they were losing money hand over fist and could not afford the current salaries if they didn't have a new stadium deal in place. So, if you really, really want Loria to throw his hands up and give up on South Florida once and for all, sue him to get your money back. Or, be the better person, realize that it's not really Loria and Samson's fault that not enough people go to the games and that the South Florida government bent them over but good on the stadium deal. Grit your teeth, go to the games and support the team. Or else you'll be complicit in their eventual departure from South Florida. By the way, if I moved down to South Florida, I would sign up to buy season tickets to watch the 2006 Marlins. Maybe that makes me a sop or an idiot; I don't know. I just know that I want to do what I can to encourage them to stay in Miami. Putting up flyers saying "Save the Marlins," while a nice sentiment, is an absolute waste of time. So is protesting. Money talks, and the only way to show the greasy politicians and the Marlins FO that this is a viable market and the Marlins deserve a new stadium is to show your support. damn fine post, very well said.
  19. The obsession with pitching prospects truly is baffling... It's a good trade, but honestly where the hell are all these arms going to go. you know a decent portion will be moved at some point for some offense. Let it all shake out then we'll see the end result and who knows...
  20. Would you rather have a stadium with Huzienga getting healf the profits or no stadium and no team at all? A stadium with Huizenga getting half the profits is what you have now, and that isn't working out very well is it??? Think. God gave you a brain, use it. i can remember a time when you weren't such a dick
  21. Would you rather have a stadium with Huzienga getting healf the profits or no stadium and no team at all? maybe thats whats taking them so long to decide. If I'm the Marlins, i'm looking at every conceivable option available to me with Wayne being at the very bottom of the list. They understand they can do the stadium with Waynes help but they also understand they'll make a much healthier profit without a landlord.
  22. wow, take a look at Bowyers last game of the season
  23. he sure sums up the state of baseball in so. florida quite well. Good luck in the AL Josh.
  24. Bill Richardson is one of the best politicians in this country. So he inflated his ego with a 40 year old lie, big deal.
  25. if closser could learn to throw it might be worth it.
