Posted April 2, 200618 yr I wanted to post this topic to see if I was the only one seeing this. I am from Fort Worth, Texas so my first look at the Marlins was this past Friday and Saturday. During BP Cabrera walks around and does the streches half a*s it is almost embarassing to watch him out there. Then during BP he was batting fine during his first round of BP then when his second turn came up he hit like 3 balls then broke his bat on the cage and walked off the field saying F-this and F-that. I hate to say this but he is showing signs that he might either be on steroids or he will never be able to be a leader on this team. Really sucks to see this because he is my favorite player. I just cant figure out why he is acting like he does. I try to follow marlins as best as I can last year I went to Phili, Tampa Bay, Miami, Houston, San Fran and in all these places he did the same thing walking around during streches or act like he is doing them. Sometimes it is actually funny because he will be talking so much he does not even realize they have changed streches. I know he has a natural ability but still baseball is a team sport. Also on a change of subject this team looked bad against Texas seriously both games they looked like boys among men. Rangers were hitting homeruns one after another then turning double plays one after another. Vargas looked BAD! He could not even make a routine out at first when Jacobs flipped him the ball he dropped it. I really hope this is not a preview of the season I am a fan for life and I will support them regardless. Watching Cabrera hit that Grand Slam was nice though!

April 2, 200618 yr Miguel tends to get Mannyitis. well said. i think that's just his personality. success doesn't require a one-size fits all formula. people are different and approach things differently. there are people that always stress and work their asses off and do well and there are others that are laid back and chill and do as well if not better. this is miggy being miggy.

And if Miggy being Miggy means laziness but a .335/40/125 season then thats okay.
April 2, 200618 yr it's also important to remember how old miggy is. he's 22. whenever i meet someone that's 22 you can tell they're very young. very infrequently do i meet a mature 22 year old. (d-train is a rare breed, i think) thinking back to when i was 22, i was the same way. not that i am a lot older now (i'm 25), but there's a difference. i've known people who at 22 years old were very good at something and much more successful than a lot of people much older than them... and they became complacent and too cocky. acted a lot like miggy does now. as time goes by and people start to catch up, most people make changes. no worries. he messed around the field in an unprofessional way and then he hit a grand slam.
April 2, 200618 yr i agree that miggy isnt very mature yet but if this is the bottom line...Watching Cabrera hit that Grand Slam was nice though! who cares?

Being young is no excuse. He started acting like that last year and there were veterans who put him in his place. He's gotten a big head and that will get old with the other players. It could ruin any cohesion the team may have. Plus they are ALL young...do you want the whole team acting like that? You won't get any new fans that way.

You won't get any new fans that way. no disagreement here. i'm just pointing out that he's young and immature, but that people normally grow out of that with age. it's not uncommon to see an immature 22 year old. and, yes, the team is young, but he's still one of the youngest players on the team (hermida, hanley, and miggy are all still only 22). the other rookies are older than miggy, so they're bound to be more mature. and they've also had a rougher time getting to the big leagues, so they probably appreciate this opportunity more than miggy.

If there's a problem, I am fully confident Girardi will address it with Cabs.
April 2, 200618 yr its a phase that all ppl go through and he will get out of that, when the time is right for him as for the steroids part?? that part just killed me right there LMAO!!
April 2, 200618 yr Yep...Miggy being Miggy. I think that for this season, until someone in the lineup earns some respect, Miggy is going to be treated more like Barry and maybe even challenge him for the MLB lead in BBs, especially if the fish are in alot of close games.
April 2, 200618 yr Miguel Cabrera is TOO cocky. I remember him turning his face on this HOT chick in Gate A at the stadium after a game. She was like miggy please an autograph, he turned his face on her with this look in his eye of disgust, I would understand if the chick was ugly, but man she WAS HOT!

She was like miggy please an autograph, he turned his face on her with this look in his eye of disgust, I would understand if the chick was ugly, but man she WAS HOT! Well when I was with my girlfriend, he would 'only' respond to her, and not me. He was flirting with her (en espanol) right in front of me. Ya he's a cocky mother.
April 2, 200618 yr I told him she was my girlfriend and he got defensive, looked at me with an intimidating glare..I think he was joking about that...but the flirting happened! And I can't help it if I have a beautiful latin girlfriend.
April 2, 200618 yr HAHA, My girlfriend is BLONDE with GREEN eyes, so picture that? That is the American dream of high class type of chick to have by your side sinse the fiftys, you know how many times I had to give up on an autograph cause I've had to curse out a player, and you can ask anybody on the boards that knows me from the games, I curse them out, I curse out more players than I get autographs, they think their big shots, and can hit on our women. Atleast my girl stays quiet though and turn s her face, how about yours? LOL SIDE NOTE: Plus my girl is Cuban, so she has the full package.
