  1. Considering so far the moves today removed the team's RBI leader, it is gonna take a lot for them to end up better (in 2026) than they were prior to the deadline. But they've got another 2.5 hours to surprise me.
  2. So if they do nothing to help the 2026 squad, you'll join the chorus of boos at 6:01 PM then also?
  3. Seems like a good return for Brax who was not getting another shot with the fish anyway
  4. 10th and 28th in Cubs system per MLB.com
  5. The return is solid in a vacuum.
  6. I have no issue trading Hicks IF they do more. But you can't say the 2026 team got better today so far considering Hicks leads them in RBI and by a wide margin. And a team in contention should be trying to get better.
  7. Feels like this is the common viewpoint on the trade.
  8. I was being facetious. But yes.
  9. Hey cheer up guys, in 2029 or 2030 they can possibly trade Taylor for another "promising return".
  10. That's what I was trying to say, I kinda stumbled with my words a bit.
  11. If they weren't contending for a playoff spot this year sure. But if this is the only trade made today, I'll be pissed. If they add some talent for this year, then this trade becomes much more acceptable to me. You don't improve your chances of contending by trading away your RBI leader.
  12. Return is the Rays 16,26,27 (on MLB.com)
  13. Lets see what we got for him
  14. Exactly. That'd be ok with me also. But so far every rumor is about trading guys away, not about adding to the 2026 roster. Maybe the rumors are wrong, I sure hope so. Though based on history, I'm not very optimistic.
  15. Right. I'm just thinking about it. And basically what we can expect is that whoever they get today (if they sell), will either be traded in 3-4 years before reaching arby or will be DFA'd cause they bust. Endless cycle.
  16. Peralta was quite a failed experiment for the Mutts
  17. All the talk is trading guys away, you wouldn't know we're 3 over .500 and 1.5 out of playoff spot on deadline day. What's the goal for this team? Are we just going to forever stockpile prospects, or will they ever try to win? And what annoys me is even more is certain fans who have Stockholm Syndrome and support it. Like fish on the farm salivating over the possibility of adding more prospects today. I get their whole thing is minor leaguers, but I guess they never want to actually win. Just endlessly restock the minors. And I don't want to hear that they lost 12 in a row. It is irrelevant. All that matters is their current place in the standings. We also didn't expect them to have the June they had. It evened out. This team should be BUYING.
  18. Grab another W
  19. Cause @pollythewog forgot AGAIN
  20. Mutts scratched Peralta since a trade may be coming.
  21. Time to stop prospect hoarding and go for it.
