Not sure where to post an Intro, so, HERE GOES
:notworthy Hey guys, I just joined up over here, figured I'd say whats up. My name is Alex, I live in Hollywood, 52 years old, played a lot of baseball as a kid and as an adult in various leagues, until I just got too old, lol. Been a baseball fan my entire life; I remember the 1962 Mets, the Yankees of the 60s, and all the great players of that time: I grew up watching Whitey Ford, Mickey Mantle, Bob Gibson, Roberto Clemente, Sandy Koufax. Went to plenty of games where I got to see them play in person. I learned to love this game and I learned to LEARN this game. Moved to Florida in 2000, but only became a Marlins fan during the 03 season when that team got my attention during the summer; I predicted their eventual success to all my buddies back home by early August. I told everybody that this seemed to be one of those rare "teams of destiny" that come up every once in a while, and I was proven correct when they got to the WS versus my New York Yankees. I had to make a choice, and it was a no brainer, I chose the young and exciting Marlins and have been a huge Marlins fan ever since. As for other things about me, I'm a fan of all sports except hockey, and I enjoy smoking fine cigars. I'm passionate and opinionated about my teams and I respect everybody that gives respect. Looking forward to contributing over here. BIG WELCOME TO THIS BOARD, YOUR CONSTRIBUTION AND KNOWLEDGE IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED, AGAIN WARM WELCOME!!!

THE BASEBALL GOD
Firstable I am not a drunk, I am a lady, second I never said that was a religion, and third this post was intended for entertaiment & education due to the fact that this mito is attached to the US baseball, and just in case yes I believe in it after the fact that it happen to us in 2003 and to the Boston red sox fans same year, and to the Yankees in 2001 and 2003 as well. It has something mistical and interesting, I think in my opinion , but I respect your point of view guys. In case you want to do more research about what the proffessinal baseball atlete think about baseball gods, please google baseball gods and read the letter written by a Chicago Cubs pitcher it is hillariuos and have a good sense of humor. It is okey not to believe in this but Please do not make fun of them because look what happen today with our Marlins, laugh all you want. Thank you for answering, you are very kind. Regards...

THE BASEBALL GOD
Whenever something bizarre happens on a baseball field, people inside and outside the game often claim that the baseball gods were behind it. When great teams stumble, or perennial losers go on a long hot streak, it is because the baseball gods have stepped in to satisfy some whim, or to right a long forgotten wrong. If you google "baseball gods," you get around 10,000 hits. My favorite is Timothy McGinnis's "Open Letter to the Baseball Gods": Please read it it is very interesting and should help you understand why some times you have to lose some games it is very hillarious and it make me laugh it happen to us in 2003 with the Cubs, and the Yankees at Boston you all remember what happen on that year for the playoffs? Most people know enough about the history of baseball to know that the New York Yankees are the most successful major sports franchise in North American history. Over the past ten years, the Yankees have been in the playoffs every year, and have won 4 World Series. They have won theirdivision 7 years in a row. Only the Atlanta Braves have won more division titles in a row, and they only won one World Series championship during their period of dominance. Well, the baseball gods are probably rolling around laughing themselves silly right now, perhaps excluding Ruth and Gehrig, as the Yankees have gotten off to their worst start in many years. Even the often underachieving Mets have a better record at the moment, although that could well change soon. One of the great things about baseball is that the unexpected happens every day; the worst pitcher on the worst team beats the best team's ace, empires collapse, and underdogs sometimes win it all, just often enough to keep us interested, and to keep the baseball gods entertained, wherever they are. Some people have even determined that the baseball gods are long dead baseball superstars like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and more recently, Ted Williams. I don't know how these people know this, but I believe it nonetheless. Like other deities (or Deity for you monotheists out there), the baseball gods have a wonderful sense of humor and a powerful sense of justice. They seem to like underdogs and working class heroes, and enjoy bringing down the high and mighty, otherwise known as the New York Yankees, who have not won a World Series since they beat the scrappy New York Mets in 2000. I am sorry for all the writing but I just want to share with you in case you did not know about the Baseball God.

Hostility at Shea tonight
From the oldest time, Religion, ednic background and sports has brought the worsed on human kind, I sincerely hope they do not try to do anything to hurt the game series agains us. You hear all kind of incident happening in this days that you take those thread seriously, remember the incident with that Yanky/Red sox fax been runned over with the car, and the guy in atlanta jumping out of the railing and later died, also in Europe those football/soccer games are letal people kill each other like animal. Anyways, thank you for answering to my post I was just little bid disturbe as a fan, and please do not ever wish that this could happen, that is extremely low and negative for our Florida Marlins team to be link to such an abominable act.

Hostility at Shea tonight
Hello my fellow Marlins; I was reading on the met's board last night and I got really disturbed, some of the fans are saying of planning a Riot to make the Mets organization embarrased, and to get Willie Randoph fired. An example of what they are planning to do is trowing stuff to the field, boycoting the game, burning and trowing garbage. They said they will wait until the fifth inning if the mets are losing the situation could get ugly. I personally think they are not going to do it, however if they do this horrible thing it will be pretty disgusting and a shame for all the the sports and for NY. Just suggesting and instigating to do such an act is abominable and very, very disturbing. I hope that the mets organization are reading their message board so that they could add additional security to prevent such an embarrasement, and to protect the Players and the fan. The Florida Marlins can not afford to have such a distraction, furthermore, it is a real bad karma to be in such an enviroment and not fare for the good mets/marlins fans that are going to this game, no to mention the kids that could be traumatize if they do such a abominable act and the bad example for these kids. I started praying since last night and all day today for both of these team safety, along with the fans, please join me to do the same with the prayer we all know, oh father who are in heaven .....

RATHER LOOSE OF A -500 TEAM THAN +500
hello my fellow marlins friends, My name is Rosanna and I live in broward county, as you see I never post but always read what you guys talk about. Anyways, I just want to tell you that I know the two game lost against a -500 team is annoying but that is baseball, I know the pitchers were about the best in the NL but the marlins can not win all the games. My God daughter used to sing for most of marlins games in 2004/2005 season and I always got free tickets for the Marlins organization because of this, but she got married and moved up north, what a shame !!! I was so happy to see my marlins and be so close to the players on the field when she was singing.... anyways, I stop going to the games for over a year now, I admit that when I saw the team in 2006 I was very dissapointed, but in 2007 when I saw the progress and I came back to this forum I am very motivate it, and started savings some money so I could buy the tickets for 2008 season for all home games, so far I saved $200.00 last month and this month $50.00 so now I think I at least have sufficient to go to all home games for this month only, lets see what I could do for next month. This team deserve lots of respect from the fans, and if I sacrificed a lot of good stuff I could do with this money just to see this team play and support them every could do it. Do not worry we are in first place still..... we will hang in there .....they are very young... and still learning but I tell you if they do not get to the play off this year they will make it for next year....but of course I will love another world series... GO MARLINS.....
