1. I put a lot of trust in my source, he also told me about the Sosa deal hours before anyone reported anything on it.
2. Update... My friend called me, the deal is as I said and Burnett is getting a 5 year $48 million contract. He also said they were close to a 3 way deal but instead the Marlins will just do it seperatly and send Bigbie to Pittsburgh for Mark Redman.
3. He is supposed to call me back when he gets home.
4. I think the deal is somewhat incentive based in the first 2 years, he has to pitch a certain amount of innings is all my friend told me, I am assuming he will only get so much money if he pitches under that amount of innings and if he reaches it he can earn up to $48 mil. Thats just how I interpreted it.
5. Luckily the Orioles Warehouse is slightly different than the Orioles Front Office, and I will believe it when I see it in the papers... hopefully not. 866517 The front office is in the warehouse :thumbup
6. I was told Burnett would get 4 years $48 million
7. I have a friend who works in the Oriole warehouse and he is telling me that adeal has been agreed on. Burnett and the Orioles have agreed on an extension and the deal will be finalized in the morning. He says it works out like this... Orioles get AJ Burnett Mike Lowell Eric Reed Matt Perisho Marlins get Hayden Penn Admin Bigbie Jorge Julio Steve Reed Steve Kline He said he isnt sure but he think the Marlins will pay $7 million on Lowell's contract.
8. I live in Baltimore and I was browsing through the threads and when I saw this I had to turn on the radio and I can confirm that it is true. I am thrilled for my Orioles and in the dumps about my Fish
9. White Sox arent in the race anymore unfortunatley
10. *yawn* This site already has an O's/Fish fan. :plain 859591 Well sorry for chiming in with my opinion. I thought you might want to hear someone being rational , most of you are being irrational asking for top players in return...
11. Hi guys. I think I should be able to provide a good opinion. I lived in Baltimore until I was 25 and I moved here to Florida and have lived here the past 6 years. I have the MLB package and I watch every Orioles and Marlins game, sometimes I have to go from one to the other flipping the channels. I am a big fan of each team. I think it is a good deal for both sides. The Orioles get a top of the rotation which they really need and another hitter which they also need, but he will be a downgrade to Bigbie if he keeps playing the way he is. The Marlins are getting a pretty good pitching prospect in Hayden Penn, I watched everyone of his starts, the kid is only 20 and has a high ceiling. Bigbie is an upgrade over Lowell for the Marlins right now, but I dont see Lowell playing like this all year so Bigbie is a downgrade in the long run but he is better you all make him out to be. Kline is having a poor season and I think a switch back to the NL would really help. Julio can be unhittable at times and at times he cant get the ball over the plate or he gets shelled. You all seem to like the White Sox deal, only advantage I see with the White Sox deal over the Orioles offer is the Marlins get a more ML ready starting pitcher. Marlins and Orioles in the World Series!!! ....please.
