Guys, this is the negotiations...boo-hoo..MLB doesnt lie the site (but will accept it)...the team will pay less (but will still give money)....the league is worried (but not giving up). Am I missing something? What's the bad news? The fact that they picked a site and it's acceptable OR are giving money OR not ready to give up? Thigs are bad when the talking stops and no one has anything to say. When the chatter is up....its all part of negotiations.

I am not trying to pick on Olivo, Jacobs or Uggla specifically. I just mean that the atitude becomes contagious. Freddi always says, the guys are busting their butts, playing hard. Never have we heard that we are playing as a team, as a unit. Come on...am I the only one that thinks sometimes the failed sacrafices are because the player at bat wants a shot to hit? How long did this team allow Reggie Abercrombie to screw the cutoff man and air mail it to home plate? Jacobs believes he is a starting first baseman when at this point he is in the lower tier when ranked against the league. Uggla has decided that he is a home run hitter and will not mold himself into a # 2 hitter which is what the team wants. When he is slotted at #6, he can't hit... so he gets rewarded by going back between Hanley and Cabrera to get fat pitches to hit. Sorry, breaking out of a slump takes hitting singles the other way....not home runs on 3-1 pitches because they don't want to pitch to Cabrera. Learn to become a hitter, not a slugger Dan. And Olivo does not want to look at the facts. .265 OBA and his awful glove does not make up for his gun behind the plate. Last year he was a clutch hitter, but he was not a good hitter. I think Jacobs comments to the press probably will land him elsewhere and I know we have a lot of Dan Uggla fans but if we can deal him and bring in a Dustin Pedroia (Scoring Pos. OBA .366 / Close & Late OBA .397) we'd be much better at the top of the order. The problem I am having with this team we have seen in two players. Miguel Olivo thinks he is being looked at as the one to blame. He thinks his play is acceptable and seems that his energy should be what the team looks at, not his play. Mike Jacobs is pissed because he gets replaced by Jason Wood. Two players that have lost the mindset that they nede to earn their job every day. They are more concerned and vocal about their pride than they are their statistics. Have you heard either talk about the team? Dan Uggla has talked about his hitting and non-hitting, far more often than he talks about important games. Scott Olsen from day one said we would have five 16 game winners, never has said we'll be a 500+ team. This team is very self-absorbed with their own jobs and statistics which we can all understand but when you add veterans and players that have been there and done that and willing to do whatever it takes to win you end up with players like Aaron Boone, Wes Helms, Jason Wood, Kevin Gregg....or how about Craig Biggio moving wherever the team needed him? Or ex-Marlins like Mike Redmond and Mark Redman. Or 1997's Darren Daulton and Jim Eisenreich.

Selig, DuPuy and Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria were to meet with Miami and Miami-Dade County officials Tuesday afternoon. With the University of Miami announcing it was moving to Dolphin Stadium in 2008, recent talks have focused on the Orange Bowl site. A retractable-roof stadium is expected to cost at least $500 million. The Marlins and Major League Baseball prefer a downtown Miami site, but Miami-Dade Manager George Burgess said the Orange Bowl site would be less costly and less complicated. This marks Selig's first visit to South Florida to try to resolve the stadium issue. Selig is expected to hold a 5 p.m. news conference to discuss the Marlins' future.

The whole medical staff needs to be fired! This is ridiculous how they've misdiagnosed injuries all season. De Aza you have a sprained ankle, oops I mean broken leg. Hey Boonie just has a sprain in his knee um uh I mean you need surgery on that knee. You're a pitcher with a sore are, lets rest it a week or two and then send you to the minors for rehab and then find out you need Tommy John on it. Seriously is the same medical staff that has been here through AJ Burnett's arm strain and Spooney's sore elbow, also both needed surgery?!? :banghead Agreed. Last year we had so many players day to day that ended up being out of actions for weeks. How do you misdiagnose an ankle fracture and confuse it with a sprain? How do you not make this distinction until 2+ months after the original injury?

Without naming names there were more than a few that called Hermida a bust. That being said, let's not crown him 2008 Batting Champ just yet. But no doubt he should be batting second in our lineup. We saw what that spot does for Uggla, my goodness what the extra fastballs would do for Hermida. The OBA of Hanley + Hermida could could become a field day for Cabrera.

Batting 1 for 12 (.083) with the bases loaded this year and .211 with runners in scoring position. Other than that he is fine. He has been a rally killer and his performance with risp has caused much pain. Last night's first inning is too indicative of many of his at bats. His power numbers show he has something to build on but he needs to learn to make contact more often. His big swings especially with two strikes show he is not working on contact. His power numbers show the results of fat fastballs pitched to him with Hanley on base and Cabrera on deck. There is nothing in his minor league history or anything outside of the first half of 2007 to make us think any different.

Dan is not quite the power hitter we think he is. Yes he takes the HR cut and sure he can drive the ball. Though it's just a very small sample I would be shocked if this was not the reality long term. Batting #2: .497 Slugging % (457AB) 69RBI 23HR Batting #5 .294 Slugging % (17AB) 1 RBI 0HR Batting # 6 .211 Slugging % (19AB) 0 RBI 0HR When Hanley bats in front of you(and is on base) you tend to get more fastballs to prevent steals. When Hanley bats in front of you, you are hitting with a runner on base 1 out of every 3 at bats and get better pitches to hit. With Cabrera on deck, no one ever wants to walk Uggla, especially with Hanley on base. This is why Uggla was able to take his HR cut, strike out quite a bit but also drive fat pitches deep. Now w/o the same kind of opportunity and protection pitchers are not challenging him with fat fastballs, but out of the strikezone curves and the dreaded inside high-fastball he can't lay off of. Unless Uggla decides to become a hitter, he is an under .250 hitter with some pop. We have seen hitters such as Willingham, Hanley, and Hermida adjust after pitchers figured them out. We have seen players such as Olivo and Uggla refuse or be unable to adjust. Come on Dan, 260-270 with 15-20 HRs would be perfectly fine. If you go for 30HRs next season, we're likely to see .240, an under .300OBA and a slugging% that fits the #8 spot in the lineup.

Then again, if our fans thought the Marlins were worth seeing as (little) as the fans on the road we'd draw 2.5MM and be pretty darn happy.

Sorry if this is in the wrong area but his fans are on this board Reds purchased the contract of catcher Ryan Jorgensen from Triple-A Louisville. The defensive-minded Jorgensen will serve as Javier Valentin's backup while David Ross is sidelined.

Catchers must be able to catch....Olivo is having trouble doing that. Treanor's ERA as catcher is more than 1/2 a run less than Olivo. Olivo has a great arm and has had quite a few clutch hits but he is not our catcher moving forward. We need a solid backstop and a guy that puts the bat on the ball.

I understand the economics behind the speculation, but it's getting ridiculous. I'm 24 years old and I'm on the verge of seeing the fourth major Marlins overhaul. I'm pretty much sick of acting as a AAAA team for the Mets/Red Sox/etc. Seriously. We are lucky enough to have a pitcher that is a poster boy for the league, and we are itching to get rid of him. At some point it just gets to be too much. I was very close to giving up on this franchise when Lowell and Luis were traded away, but I stuck around. If Dontrelle goes, I'm done with this team. Seeya!

Uggla on the bench tonight, finally! When he returns he should be batting in the second half of the lineup.
