August 26, 200718 yr Two months ago, he was hitting .228, had an on-base of .318, and was slugging .419. One month ago, was hitting .249, had an on-base of .339, and was slugging .442. After tonight? Hitting .284 with a .373 on-base and a .490 slugging. ANYBODY who doubted the talent of this kid needs to eat some crow. His swing itself made me one of the biggest Hermida fans around in '05, and his minor league stats didn't lie. If healthy, I think next year is his time to break out. We've been lucky to watch hitters like Miguel and Hanley instantly blossom, and that doesn't always happen. But Hermida has progressed at the level most prospects do. Can't wait for 2008.
August 26, 200718 yr Yeah man i love his swing, really text book. Our offense will really ball people up even more if he breaks out...
August 26, 200718 yr If only I had tools to make a Jedi Hermida...the whole team would have lightsabers right now.
August 26, 200718 yr no one doubted his potential or talent. in fact i dont even know if there were doubts. at some point he was gonna kick it into gear. maybe not this soon. but the chosen one picked him first. its just that he was hurt for the first month and then god awful for half a season and that led to bashing, but not doubts, at least for me.

August 26, 200718 yr .348 ba, .437 obp and .994 ops since the all star break. will make a great #2 hitter between hanley and miguel next year. now if we could just get some starting pitching!
August 26, 200718 yr hey Lou, you hear that?.. Hermida is kinda cool He's not as cool as Chris Aguila and BJ Upton though.

August 26, 200718 yr wow. .284? I can't believe it. I noticed some changes in his swing about a month ago, he was staying back and driving the ball the other way. He was taking ONLY the balls and swinging at MAINLY strikes, instead of vice-versa.

August 26, 200718 yr Kid is ballin'. His turnaround is probably the best news of the season. The lineup should be sick next year.

August 26, 200718 yr He's not a budding superstar. Douche is lucky to be in the majors. f***, I wish we cut him months ago when we had the chance, now we just have to stomach his suckiness while we wait for the inevitable regression.
August 26, 200718 yr LOL @ this thread. There were maybe 3 or 4 12 year olds on this board who were doubting Hermida's offensive capabilities. That was the extent of it. The majority (vast) of anti- Hermida talk centered on his hard to watch defense (I for one voiced my amazement at how someone could play RF for so long and be so bad at it). He's obviously a super-talented, sky's the limit hitter. If we can get a hold of a beast C in the offseason this line up will look sick in 08'. Still have tons of doubt regarding the starting rotation though. 2008 being "our" year is a longshot at best.

There were plenty of doubters and haters as well...Does Hermierda ring any bells? Many felt he was a total bust
August 26, 200718 yr Without naming names there were more than a few that called Hermida a bust. That being said, let's not crown him 2008 Batting Champ just yet. But no doubt he should be batting second in our lineup. We saw what that spot does for Uggla, my goodness what the extra fastballs would do for Hermida. The OBA of Hanley + Hermida could could become a field day for Cabrera.
August 26, 200718 yr I think there is no reason for Hermida to not be batting 1/2 next year. I think he should bat 1st. Fredi wants Hanley to get more RBI chances. Hermida will allow that to happen. Ideally I know Fredi wants him 3rd, but at this point, barring us aquiring a speed CF the lowest hanley should ever bat is 2nd.
