  1. The New York Times has a good write up of the stadium. Overall, it's pretty positive. This pretty much sums it up... Now that Mr. Loria has gotten his new stadium, he is doling out big money for marquee players, talking about World Series games played with the roof open, under the stars. Through seven home games, according to ESPN, the Marlins have sold an average of more than 29,000 tickets. If the Marlins are bottom dwellers in late September, that home-run sculpture may come to seem forlorn, the new team uniforms clownish and the cost of the stadium a renewed scandal. But that’s then. For now, Miami has reason to cheer. http://www.nytimes.c...smid=tw-nytimes
  2. First pitch! Just beautiful. As a longtime Marlins fan, I never thought this day would come. I thought it would have been more likely to happen in St. Antonio than in Miami. http://lockerz.com/s/189922143
  3. I'm excited. If this is what the offseason looks like, I can't wait to see what happens right before the trade deadline next season. Nothing will happen. We're not serious. I'm excited. If this is what the offseason looks like, I can't wait to see what happens right before the trade deadline next season. Think Loria is serious now? I kid, I kid. I know I'll never live that thread down. But never before has being wrong looked so glorious. :geek

  5. Pretty sure my thread is responsible for lighting the fire under Loria, et. al and is therefore responsible for Reyes, Bell and Buehrle. :jacobs
  6. They offered Pujols less than $200 million. When you consider A-Rod is in the middle of a 10 year, $275 million contract that was signed in 2007, it's hard to take this offer seriously. As for Reyes, it's possible things still might work out and I hope they do, but I'm sure other teams that need him worse than we do will come up with more than $90 million over six years. I also question the timing: reports that the Marlins were interested in Pujols and Reyes coincided with the new logo and uniforms announcement. There are other teams interested in Pujols and Reyes, and yet the Marlins were the only team that seemed to tip their hand this early in the offseason. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like Loria is more fascinated with the idea of having his team associated with these big names in media reports than actually signing them.
  7. Best had to be the floppy hats they gave away in 1997, marking the 5th season. I remember seeing people wearing them at the World Series later that year.
  8. Just curious... I was hoping it would stay around until at least Opening Day.
  9. I personally think Zack Hample is insufferable, but he recently visited Miami and stopped by the new Marlins stadium on his way to Sun Life. Check it out: http://snaggingbaseballs.mlblogs.com/2011/08/07/8511-at-sun-life-stadium/
  10. The more I see it the more I can't stand the thought of us wearing orange and blue. Its to much like the mets. And don't forget the Florida Gators. :fit
  11. If anyone is wondering, here is what the old Miami Marlins uniforms and hats looked like:
  12. If we hadn't won two World Series wearing teal I wouldn't mind. Would the New York Yankees ditch navy blue?
  13. Doesn't sound good if you're a fan of teal like I am: Q. Will the team have new uniforms? A. We’re two years away, but we started working on a new look for the uniforms, new colors, something special for the new home. Teal is a color for the ’90s. You have to be cognizant of your time. The seats will be a beautiful shade of blue. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/21/sports/baseball/21loria.html
  14. I live in Washington, DC. You'd be surprised how many Marlins fans show up at any given Nats/Fish series. Actually, it may not be that surprising considering how terrible the Nats are.
