I watched Jeremy in about 15 games last year with the Mudcats.
This is Jeremy Hermida
1st at bat K on full count, (because the ball was outside)
2nd at bat first pitch fastball Home Run to Deep Right Center field.
3rd at bat walk on 4 pitches swing at none
(I actually saw a game where he did that)
He's incredibly patient, but when someone throws him something to hit, he can punish it, and punish it severely.
I prefer this approach over someone like Jeff Francoeur (the bizzaro-Hermida).
1st at bat K on 3 pitches
2nd at bat K on 4 pitches
3rd at bat HomeRun on first mistake pitch.
Hermida's approach may not impress you at first, or take your breath away but he's building a very solid foundation of learning the major league strike zone, and what pitches he can handle, and where to lay off.
His approach vs Francoeur's is kinda like becoming friends with a girl before dating her, vs taking her home the first date.
