I think the only way to fix the system is to cancel it. Then a new one has to be created. But no govenernment would dare to try that.

Know what sucks. I pay into Social Security and I will probably never see a dime. How 'fair' is that? I get to pay for the retirements of the old people, but yet when I am old, there will be no young kids to pay for mine? Thats just great. similar problem as we have. Everyone pays and pays...... the problem is that the birth-rate here is decreasing since the 1980s. The result is, that my generation never sees a cent of the money we paid, coz there are no younger people who can pay. same with health-insurance. So how to reform the system? Thats our main question right now. No one knowsw a good answer, hehe :thumbdown

A real proposal for climate change?
The climate change seems to be real. We have record temperatures here in Europe for weeks now and there is no ending seen yet. Even in Britain, it doesn't rain :cool . THAT's a reason to be afraid. In South Europe (Portugal, Spain & Italy), the forests burn. Isn't too good. we have more than 38?C (100?F) here in Germany. that's not normal. but honestly said, I like that........., driking a cold beer :cheers .

Africa shoud really be a problem to everybody. But the US have the capacity to do that. the EU has not. We take care of Congo. there are our troops. AND WHO is running huge parts of SFOR (Serbia), KFOR (Kosovo) and ISAF (Afghanistan)? also european nations.

But by your theory though, we leave Hitler in power in Germany because he has the right to be his own government though right? The US have been neutral for a long time. they supported the allies but thjey were not actively involved (officially). WW2 started with pearl habor (dec, 7th 1941) for the US, but AFTER the US declared war to Japan (dec. 8th), Hitler followed the treaty he had with Japan and Italy and GER & IT declared war to the US (dec, 11th) Canada was faster. It declared war 1939 already. Saddam Hussein didn't have the possibility to take over the world. It was his aim, but...... But honestly said, I agree with you. Its better to be safe and what saddam did with the Iraqis was awful. Noth Korea is different. they are a real threat, because trey're insane AND have WMD AND they're insane. a potentially deadly combination. @Phlub: where are YOU getting your information? China is a strategic important trading partner to the US. they need each other, but China needs the US more. China is also the most important partner for North Korea, economical and ideological! Since 1961 (long after the Korean War), they have a "Friendship and Mutual Assistance Treaty". But I don't think china would really intervene if the US would go to North Korea. China needs the US more than North Korea. Edit: mistakes corrected

Troops land in Liberia
I don't know. Maybe the current administration doesn't see the problems. Or somone there has a problem with helping other people/minorities/poor. I think it has a historical reason. I currently reading a book "history of the United States" and it's really interesting, but I'm not yet at today....... Well, 9/11 was awful. But maybe on should think about WHY that happened. Why do the arab nations (and other) hate the US? there is a reason. they hate the US, because the US do/did not care about the arab interests. The US only cared about their own (and Israel's) interests and I must say, I can understand the arab people. the disclaimer fits again

Be it something like the Kyoto Protocol to now the Liberia incident. The United States are going at it alone. That is not healthy for the world in general. Too much time and efforts in diplomacy are being thrown out the window due to the imperalistic actions of President Bush. While he has to be commended for his family values, something lacking greatly in the last adminstration, we are faced with a new set of faults. Which set of faults is more harmful? I am not sure yet. :thumbup

I think what the Bush-Administration did with the UN was not right. If the war was/is right, that's another question, but to screw the UN is not right (for any member, especially for the most important country in the world). Let's hope that this action will not destroy the UN. I think that the US-Administration will do it better next time. BTT: Liberia's president Taylor asked for a peace-bringing-mission in Liberia. He made the mission to be contition for him to go into exile. Liberia is general problem in Africa. It was a US problem 100 years ago, but now, it's a general problem. But someone has to intervene. So why not the nation, which spends more money for armament than for solving educational and social problems in the own country (and in the whole world.....I only say 0.7% of the GNP as foreign aid :whistle )? Disclaimer: Please, do not blame me to be anti-american os sth. like that. I'm not! And please, do not shoot me.

Greatest Shows No One Has Heard Of
Well I loved Das Boot so I know that film and plus The German Teacher at our school tries to get us to switch every year by having German rallies asking us to defect from Spanish. So I know some German films and The Wiseguy's who I hate btw. Das Boot was cool and it was Wolfgang Petersen's best. Well, The NeverEnding Story was cool, too, but the book is better. And one of the best movies of all time is, although actually pretty famous, is Fight Club:
