Best Baseball Movie?

Featured Replies

well, DeNiro and Snipes made The Fan be a really good movie IMO, but Major League was too funny and the best.

i went with the sandlot, i wouldve voted MLB but you included #3

mmm Field of Dreams was a close #2 for me.

Sandlot is the classic American kids movie...baseball...played by kids...not organized. Just kids who pick on each other, but are friends, and go through crap together. And play baseball. That is baseball at its purest right there fellas.

Then again, Field of Dreams is baseball at its purest too.

Major League! "Too High?"

The Natural is a very close second though.

I stopped playing orgazational baseball a couple years back, this is how we do it now. And let me tell you, it kicks the crap out of orgazational ball. Because say what you want about Hardball and Little League and all that stuff, but no one plays harder against each other than friends do. Home Plate Collisions, throwing at people for breaking one of the "unwritten rules", its total baseball with the ever present smash talk between plays.

For me catching during our games, theres no better feeling then smoking my best friend at second base trying to steal and then getting to tell him about it his next at bat. When those kind of pickup games start, you find out that the absence of time is one of the most important reasons why baseball is man's greatest sport.

Field of Dreams. There are so few movies with that many memorable quotes in it. James Earl Jones' speech towards the end of the movie is actually printed on the side of Pac Bell Park in San Francisco. Not to mention, it's one of the few good Costner movies. :lol

Juanky, you are so correct. Someone on here has a quote I think that says something like "baseball is the greatest sport because unlike other sports, you can not stall. You must let the opposing team have a chance to win."

Now, I dont think baseball is the greatest sport (im a football fan 1st and foremost), but baseball is a darn good sport and a definite close 2nd in my book.

#1:"Sandlot".

It's a great, classic movie and when I watch it I just get a good feeling.

#2:"The Fan" it was an extremely dramatic movie (Which I like.). Plus Bobby D and Wesley Snipes.

Somebody forgot to add "Eight Men Out" to this poll. I thought it was a good depiction of the Black Sox Scandal.
