A small fleet of soilders landed in Liberia today, The Question is will Bush have to prove his power again by taking Liberia?

Also will America support Bush now with soilders still dieing in Iraq and having to spend more money on a war in a country few know about.

Bush was kinda forced into Liberia due to Jesse Jackson and his bulls*** racist claims.....

Bush was kinda forced into Liberia due to Jesse Jackson and his bulls*** racist claims..... I don't see how he was forced when it comes down to it, he has to put down his foot and say no.

I really think this is bulls*** and reads Somalia all over again if we go into major combat and Iraq is not cleaned up where in trouble because what were doing is that same exact thing The Brits were doing when they were broken up.

They had an empire and was busy fighting wars all over the globe and look what happened.

Why doesn't Jesse Jackson shoot himself? He is a detriment to society.

are we even in the UN anymore?

We are the UN

Liberia is an American responsibility. We must make sure that it is secure.

Here is a quick CapeFish history lesson:

Liberia was started by freed American slaves that wanted to return to Africa. The United States Government (President was James Monroe, hence the capital is Monroevia) gave the it's blessing and helped them setup a government.

As of late there have been rebellions and we must go in and make sure that it does not get out of hand. We are to be peacekeepers and arbitrators that are not partial to anyone but the people of the Liberia. It is part of the agreement we have with their government.

Bush is doing in Liberia, what Kennedy should have and had the right to do according to the constitution in Cuba.

we said f*** off to the UN for Iraq.

if Bush could get out would he?

Yes, but we still are the UN. Without us the UN is pointless. And no we would never get out of the UN, because it would be political suicide.

Liberia isn't the UN's problem. It is OUR PROBLEM! They are former american slaves and as restitution we must take care of them.

well isnt saying screw you to the UN Security Council tantamount to political suicide?

Kennedy nearly got this nation into nuclear war, something that I hope Bush does not get this nation close to.

Kennedy didn't habdle Cuba right, but that is off topic.

The UN security council has no jurisdiction over anything the United states or any other country on this earth does. We are a country in our own and have a president, constitution, etc. and have a system of governing. The United Nations is obsolete and never worked well for it's purpose, similar to Olympic Stadium in Montreal.

Oh give me a break.

It is not OUR responsibility for perpetuity.

At first yes.

That was over 150 years ago.

Give me a break.

It is our responsibility. We must make sure that doesn't get out of hand. It could become a haven for terrorists if it gets out of hand ala Afghanistan before 2002.

If the US shouldn't intervene, then why should the UN who has no reason too? Das, you really don't make sense.

We are the superpower and must try to preempt any potential threats and Liberia could become a threat if not taken care of. If i remember correctly, Liberia uses the American dollar and if there is more conflict our financials could hurt. There is more than what you think.

Liberia is a United States interest and the president must protect it. Why are you so against saving the lives of so many people? If we can have negotiations that will end this struggle from shedding more blood what is wrong with that?

Oh give me a break.

OK let me just respond in bulk, don't want to be a spammer now.

Cape: The UN is the policeforce for the world. If s*** happens in a country, it is there problem to correct it first before anything worse happens. That is what they exist for. Sure they ahve outside functions like the WHO, but their sole purpose for being created was to establish world piece.

Das: Kennedy brought us almost to nuclear war more than once. He screwed up in Cuba, he screwed up in Europe. s***, did he do anything right? And I agree with you we did this thing with them over 150 years ago (Monroe was president late 1810s-early 1820s I believe) and they aren't our problem anymore. They got their own sovereign country, its theirs with their own problems. But since we are the UN we have to back them up. I bet if the US soldiers were wearing teal helmets instead of US helmets no one would care. But it was still be the same result, US leading the way because that is how it always is with the UN.

Oh, and I'm sick of intervening in other countries. Until you take care of the problem that is 90 miles away you don't have the right to do anything in Africa. We are a more powerful minority than the blacks because come 2008 we will be the largest majority and well on our way to having hispanics becoming the majority of this nation (its coming, be warned). The only difference at this point between hispanics and non-hispanic blacks is that they riot when they are angry and we just get pissed for a while and then don't care anymore.

Just another thing on the UN bit, don't remember who said it but someone said for the US to leave the UN altogether (might have been more than one person). I got three words for you:

League

Of

Nations

If you think about it, we technically are still in WW1 by ourselves.....

As a nation we are now moving to another continent in our imperalistic manners.

In his time in office, George W Bush has exhibited many imperalistic manners.

Not only the current affairs but nearly everything from an international perspective.

Be it something like the Kyoto Protocol to now the Liberia incident. The United States are going at it alone. That is not healthy for the world in general.

Too much time and efforts in diplomacy are being thrown out the window due to the imperalistic actions of President Bush.

While he has to be commended for his family values, something lacking greatly in the last adminstration, we are faced with a new set of faults.

Which set of faults is more harmful? I am not sure yet.
