Strikeouts and our Offense
I really believe that the reason we are not in first place or at the very least 2nd place this season has nothing to do with pitching or managing decisions. I believe its more a product of our league leading strikeouts. Is our hitting coach doing his job? Yea we get a lot of HRs and doubles but usually they are solo HRs or 2 out doubles that turn into nothing. Our offense is so inconsistent I dont understand it. One game we score 10 runs, the next we strikeout 30 times, leave 15 runners on base and score 0 runs. We strikeout a lot less = we win more ballgames.

We cant afford to give up any more runs, i see us getting 1 or 2 more runs at most. We need a DP ball here.

9-4, the record we would have without Julio
Julio blew 2 saves, both of which should have been wins, those were not "team" losses but losses that 1 person named Jorge Julio caused. Yes we had some bad defense this game, yes we only scored one run, and yes putting Julio in there in a pressure situation was a bad move. Without Julio in there the game woulda been tied or won by us. Ill take a tie and extra innings over going down 5 runs because our pitcher cant pitch at the major league level. I would take ANY of the other pitchers in there over Julio. This has been 4 outtings that Julio has done nothing but hurt the team, he had a bad spring as well. At what point is it enough? Yes they paid big money to bring him here but we need to face facts, he cant pitch right, atleast not now and throwing away games isnt gonna fix him. They need to send him down or release him.

Gregg pitches two more innings, then we bring Pinto in like we did. Gregg was pitching fine i dont think he would have allowed more than 1 run. And Pinto only allowed 1 because he inherited Julios mess.

9-4, the record we would have without Julio
Right now we would be 9-4 and tied for 1st place in the NL east if Julio wasnt on the team. I really think we need to do something, I dont think they will release him or send him down, lord knows i want them to release him but beinfest wont allow it yet. What they need to do if he must remain on the team is keep him in the bullpen and only use him when we lead by 4+ runs, this way he can is not under pressure because even if he gives up a couple we still have a 2 run lead. And if he continues sucking we can release him without giving games away. I know everyone is saying we had to use Julio tonight but i disagree, I think even a tired pitcher would have done better. I think leaving gregg in there for a couple more innings and then switch to Pinto would have been the best solution and probably woulda meant a win tonight. I know a lot are saying dont blame Fredi but I trully believe he is making a rookie mistake in sticking with Julio in close situaions. Maybe Julio can get better with time and more outtings but putting him out there with a 1-0 lead is not the time to see, wait till we have a decent cushion.
