So excited. It sounds like he's 100% ready to go! If he can and Volstad can be effective (which they can)... we're gonna be a force to reckon with this second half. yes, looking forward to see what Volstad can do as well on Friday night in Dodgertown. :thumbup

Really looking forward to the return of Josh Johnson vs Dodgers. If Josh could return, and be a factor in the starting rotation that would be great for the second half of the season. I'll be tuned into tonight for sure. :whistle

The 28-year-old All-Star second baseman said so on Wednesday morning before the Marlins faced the Padres in the series finale at PETCO Park. Uggla walked up to manager Fredi Gonzalez during a session with reporters in the dugout. After getting his manager's attention, Uggla said, "I'm good to go." Out since June 28 with a sprained left ankle, Uggla has remained on the active roster but hasn't been used. As of Wednesday, he is available for pinch-hitting duties. Uggla said he feels he is ready to return the starting lineup on Thursday when the Marlins open a four-game series with the Dodgers in Los Angeles. Asked if he can play right now, Uggla said: "I don't see why not. I'm ready." His ankle certainly looked better on Wednesday. Before the game, he sprinted under the supervision of team trainer Sean Cunningham. Uggla ran better than he had since the injury. With 23 home runs, Uggla entered Wednesday ranked third in the Major Leagues in homers, two behind leader Chase Utley of the Phillies. At the time of his injury, Uggla was pacing the big leagues in that category. The gritty second baseman, in his third season, is having a career year, on pace to shatter his personal-best 31 homers last year. He is batting .289 and also has 24 doubles and 58 RBIs. Whether Uggla starts on Thursday is up to Gonzalez. Frequently, when an injured player is cleared to play, the manager gives him an extra day off, just to make sure.
