    I hate people who jaywalk.
  2. gee thanks.... i didn't think it was a bad think for other fans to be interested in your team But you must see that the influx has been pretty heavy in the past week or so.... :mischief2 With names like those, it appears their efforts are to antagonize the Cubs, and Cubs fans like myself. I wish to be protected from any and all flames. To All: DO I HAVE YOUR SUPPORT. The NL must stick together.
  3. They're like a disease.... And the names! SammyisSatan, theCheat....there are major issues going on heah
  4. Yeah, Shingo will be bigger than Kerry or Prior. Ooooookay. Kerry Wood = Most Over Rated pitcher in Baseball. pfft. Like you wouldn't take him over Buehrelhelrlhellllhelelele in a heartbeat. Keep sticking pins in your Sammy doll.
  5. Yeah, Shingo will be bigger than Kerry or Prior. Ooooookay.
  6. Who is this hack you put out on the mound? Are you conceding this game before it starts? Matt Ginter: 1/3 IP 5 H 6 ER Nice job. :mad : :thumbdown He came from the White Sox. What do you expect.
  7. Let's see what happens next weekend. Reports show that theaters sold out in such conservative enclaves as Nassau and Orange Counties. So two theories can be gleaned A) Moore's excellent filmmaking technique is swaying even the most conservative, paving the way for an 80% Kerry victory in the fall or B) It's da hype.

  9. Very quiet in here after the Cubs get shut down by a guy with an ERA over 11. Where were you after yesterday's Cub win, hotshot? I didn't come by here until I got back from the game... I didn't see this thread until today. Well that's just perfect, then.

  11. I'm 18 too. You look like quite the peach. Oh, barf.
  12. We are greedy. We want it all. Failure is not an option. Besides, Rey Ordonez should not be starting for a high school team, much less the Great Cubs.
  13. We don't need Rusch, and maybe Im biased because I don't like Kelton. Gonzalez BLOWS. But most of all, we need someone, anyone, who can play every day and help Dusty avoid the temptation of starting favorite son Ramon Martinez, sucktastic Rey Ordonez, useless Jose Macias, or the dessicated corpse of Ricky Gutierrez. The Four Shortstops of the Apocalypse.
  14. Kudos to Dusty for coming up with an awesome lineup today. Check this out. Grudzy Lee Alou Sosa Ramirez Holly Barrett Patterson Martinez I would've put Corey 7th and Barrett 8th (don't want to get Corey's confidence too down), but this is a welcome change. All we need is a shortstop - I like the idea of getting Lugo from Tampa Bay. It's not like they don't have a replacement. Give them Rusch and Kelton, and it'll be all right.
  15. Just downloaded Firefox. Thanks for the tip, you guys. :thumbup
  16. Bad day for white sox fans. Cubs & Minnesota win. Sox lose. Scott Schoeneweis on the DL. Felix Diaz to pitch tomorrow. I smell trouble. I smell VICTORY! and pork chops.
  17. CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! yea, to bad they dont win anything come playoff time. Now that I think about it none of these two teams win anything when it really matters. Mr. Sourpuss. Thanks for your input. And in a related story, the Astros LOSE in their first game with Beltran. Ha. Ha ha ha ha.
  18. This never would have happened to the Tom Clancy Jack Ryan. He loved his wife. Always called her "babe". WHEN HE WASN'T KICKING ASS!!!!! Illinois Republicans are just plain dumb. George Ryan screwed the party for years to come. Senator Obama sounds weird. Whatever, first black guy in the Senate in 30 years.
  19. Joey Gathright making his ML debut. Should be interesting.
  20. This is BS. It won't happen, or the Padres will end up doing an extremely dumb thing. Cubs should pick him up.
  21. I'm sure the fans in Philly will be their usual tolerant, supportive selves. HEY RICKY, HOW'S YER ASS????
  22. Given Jayson Blair, I wouldn't necessarily denigrate Slate compared to the New York Times. As for specific lies, well no, I haven't seen the film yet. I won't be able to stomach it. However, I can pull summaries of it offline. More than anything, I think Moore is guilty of being logically deficient. He takes a bunch of scenarios (Bin Laden's family left the US! Ooooooooh! Bush waited 5 minutes after hearing about the Towers! Oooooooh!), cobbles them together, and forms some kind of theory where Bush is evil incarnate, somehow both lazy and cunning. The guy could make a attack film on Mr. Rogers if he wanted to. That's fine with me if you don't like the way he puts together the facts to support his views... But calling him a liar is an entirely different animal. I can call him a liar because of what he did to Fred Barnes, and others I cannot recall off the top of my head. Here's a tidbit: A FEW YEARS AGO Michael Moore, who's now promoting an anti-President Bush movie entitled Fahrenheit 9/11, announced he'd gotten the goods on me, indeed hung me out to dry on my own words. It was in his first bestselling book, Stupid White Men. Moore wrote he'd once been "forced" to listen to my comments on a TV chat show, The McLaughlin Group. I had whined "on and on about the sorry state of American education," Moore said, and wound up by bellowing: "These kids don't even know what The Iliad and The Odyssey are!" Moore's interest was piqued, so the next day he said he called me. "Fred," he quoted himself as saying, "tell me what The Iliad and The Odyssey are." I started "hemming and hawing," Moore wrote. And then I said, according to Moore: "Well, they're . . . uh . . . you know . . . uh . . . okay, fine, you got me--I don't know what they're about. Happy now?" He'd smoked me out as a fraud, or maybe worse. The only problem is none of this is true. It never happened. Moore is a liar. He made it up. It's a fabrication on two levels. One, I've never met Moore or even talked to him on the phone. And, two, I read both The Iliad and The Odyssey in my first year at the University of Virginia. Just for the record, I'd learned what they were about even before college. Like everyone else my age, I got my classical education from the big screen. I saw the Iliad movie called Helen of Troy and while I forget the name of the Odyssey film, I think it starred Kirk Douglas as Odysseus. So why didn't I scream bloody murder when the book came out in 2001? I didn't learn about the phony anecdote until it was brought to my attention by Alan Wolfe, who was reviewing Moore's book for the New Republic. He asked, by email, if the story were true. I said no, not a word of it, and Wolfe quoted me as saying that. That was enough, I thought. After all, who would take a shrill, lying lefty like Moore seriously? More people than I thought. Moore's new movie attacking Bush was given a 20-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival.
