Coach K to Lakers??????????????????????????????
Uh, Passion, I can comment on the Redick thing. I am a good friend of the RA who saw JJ in that dorm room with the pot. She pretty much insinuated that he was doing it as well. However, compared to Len Bias, Redick would have still been a choir boy in terms of the drug intake he had.

Coach K to Lakers??????????????????????????????
So what did K get out of the new President? Pot for Redick? A stereo for Williams? A job for Randolph's mother? A promise that Duke football will continue to suck and not take attention away from him? 441430 Ted Roof is bringing a new attitude to the football program, along with competent coaches and highly touted recruits. They'll make you eat your words.

K: I said NO to Kobe
*whats that i hear* 441126 are you sure its not coach K telling kobe that no means no? 441129 Damn, why didn't I think of that? Maybe I'll put it on a sign and shove it in a camera's face at a game next season. Of course, I don't want Dick Broadhead writing an "Avuncular Letter" of his own, much like Uncle Terry (Terry Sanford to the rest of you) had to do after a UVA game in 1983, when the Crazies threw condoms on the court at someone accused of rape and shouted, "Did you send her flowers?"

One Nation Under God
The "God in the pledge" debate is ridiculous. Whoever thought of the idea that it is offensive is either: A) an oversensitive wimp or B) an a**hole anti-religion person going out of their way to make religion less and less a part of our country's heritage. My .02 Or © an historian who knows that the phrase was added in a "with us or with the Commies" frenzy (sound familiar?). That's why I find it to be problematic. Debating the "under G-d" phrase is a different can of worms (ie.: some influential people could take it to mean their OWN god and no one else's, in case you're listening, Revs. Robertson and Falwell). The context of the placement should be the issue, because let's be frank, this had nothing to do with religion and everything to do with the "godless Commies". Heck, the original writer, who was a Baptist minister, consciously left out any mention of G-d and even had the phrase "my flag" rather than "the flag of the United States of America".

Going into enemy territory
Don't wander too much further north... The neighborhood will turn bad pretty quick. By 120th its getting real lousy, another 10 start fearing for your life. Stay out of central park at night. The areas right along the park E&W in your area will be OK during the day. Go a few blocks towards the rivers and the neighborhoods decline quick. Yeah, I plan on taking Chris Rock's advice regarding being on MLK Boulevard.

Going into enemy territory
On Thursday, I will be leaving for my 2-month internship at Rockefeller University in NY. That means I'll be off this board from then until I get my Internet access started up (praying that the 92nd St. Y has broadband, but most likely I'll have to settle with dial-up). Speaking of which, if anyone has ever stayed at the 92nd St. Y, can you tell me what to expect and what to know about the place? Oh, and I haven't forgotten the Marlins. That's why I'm thinking about seeing them when they play the Mets, though I have to see what my lab schedule looks like first. After all, who doesn't want to sing, Beat the Mets! Beat the Mets! Come on out and beat the Mets!

Stars Praise 'Fahrenheit 9/11'
Wow, a big, long list of hollywood types who are about as qualified politically as wet farts. The only thing I can't figure out is who is more stupid.... The actors for thinking they matter, or the AMerican public for listening to their drivel. This message was brought to you by the "Re-elect Ah-nold" Committee and the Ronald Reagan Preservation Trust.

Duke shakes its tailfeather
what a dumb video. I kinda laughed at the random "ass to the floor" action. Ugly girls...guys with names like Amit. That's Duke. I got friends at Furman that are Duke fans that actually decided between UNC and Furman...because Duke was so depressing. To each his own. Furman isn't exactly a party school itself. Anyone seen that Ignition (remix) video thing? T'would be cool if someone posted that. For you, FurmanGator: http://www.duke.edu/~mpv4/I-gnition.mpg

Duke shakes its tailfeather
I certainly respect what the basketball team has done under K and the fact that dook is an extremely prestigious university. Does that mean I will stop mocking the fans, students, athletes, and the university as a whole though? No. Its all in good fun for me. EDIT: What's TDD anyways? Well, that's what separates Carolina fans (I guess the Duke-Carolina rivalry is more amicable than, say, FSU-UF) and Terp fans. Oh, and TDD = The Devils' Den

Best Basketball player not in NBA
Trajan Langdon is playing in Spain Chris Carawell is playing in Australia Langdon's actually playing for Efes Pilsen in the Turkish Basketball League. His team is in the finals, playing ?lkerspor, and though they just lost, Efes Pilsen leads the series 2-1.

Best Basketball player not in NBA
Ed Cota-he's ballin in Poland. Rusty LaRue-NBDL Arvydas Sabonis is playin in Europe too I believe. I'll try and think of some. Ed Cota is not good. Sabonis - isnt he like 63 now? Where's William Avery these days? In Israel, playing for Hapoel Tel Aviv. His team just got smashed pretty hard by Maccabi Tel Aviv in the first game of the first round of the playoffs, so they have one more chance to prolong their season.

Duke shakes its tailfeather
BullDurham - Why dude, why? You shouldnt have posted that. It was like throwing a baby seal in the middle of a shark tank.... :thumbdown Don't know. I remember posting this on TDD once, though. Some liked it, some didn't, but you always have that. Then again, that was TDD, huh? Maybe I should find a way to lock this thread. And BTW, why should I care? At least I haven't seen anyone who looks like Kris Lang in that video. And even more (on a serious note, this time), this visceral Duke hatred has to stop. I have never seen so much unsubstantiated vitriol directed against a single school, its student body, and education received there as I have seen everyone pull against Duke (even vitriol against Miami has been substantiated by the crap pulled during the JJ and Erickson years). Maybe I should call everyone who goes to Carolina or is a Carolina fan a gang member just because baby blue is a gang color, but I won't. I cheer against and I may hate, but I respect. I believe that is the main problem with Duke-hatred. I feel the lack of respect, and it hurts. Why should I respect any of the athletic accomplishments by, say, the University of Maryland when Terp fans won't reciprocate? Heck, said Terp fans are also the most abusive fans in the nation. You're better off wearing anti-Carolina apparel in Chapel Hill than you are wearing pro-Duke apparel in College Park, as chances are, you'd get beaten up by those idiots over there. And if posting that drew out all the hatred so that everyone can see that I'm not paranoid, then so be it. I'm sick and tired of it, and it has got to stop. Somebody has to stick up for Duke, and if Passion won't do it, then I (a rising senior at Duke, BTW) will.

Magic get #1 pick
Yeah, very weak. The HS players should go to college to boost up their game Agreed. I still think Shaun Livingston will go back to school. By far? No way! I have never seen one expert say Deng has the most potential, let alone by far. That is usually reserved for Josh Smith or Dwight Howard. Deng usually gets "solid player, does everything well but nothing exceptional, will he ever be a star?" Homer. Deng solid? If he goes back to college (very unlikely) he would be the front runner for the Naismith. BTW, what's the success rate for H.S players in the NBA? :thumbdown Passion, know anything on the inside about Livingston?
