Most marlin friendly tv station

Featured Replies

Channel 10 is always the first one with marlins news (especially on the stadium)

WTVJ NBC 6 always have highlights, interviews and good features on the Marlins.

The other stations vastly ignore the team compared to NBC 6. NBC 6 also runs PAX 35 in Miami where Marlins games air.

Since I'm not a native, I'm not sure but I do know nationally it is notESPN/ABC....they act like a Pirates/Tigers World Series is better than one involving Florida :mad :

Almost all of them give just a 30 second clip on the Marlins. You would think that the world champs would get more attention. But if I had to pick one I guess 7 because of the all the coverage they had during the playoffs.

Channel 10 could have had the NLDS from ESPN, but they didn't want to bump their news, so that's where seven came in and got the entire playoff sweep.

Channel 6 couldn't get it's hands on playoffs this time. in 1997 they aired all the games like seven and had the anchors in cleveland and atlanta when the Marlins were up there.

Channel 7 does a great job with the Marlins, but their sports stable is limited to Fox Sports because the local guys have suffered losses during the years.

Channel 4 is a Heat and Dolphins sellout. Their sister station (Channel 33) used to air Marlins, Heat, and Panthers, but when WAMI came about they didn't bid to keep the teams. In 2002 they thought the Marlins weren't worth the money for a 2 year contract.

Channel 35 is the Marlins flagship now, is run by Channel 6, and is very loyal to the team. Frankly, they should stay there because when I lived in Miami they did the best job of any of the flagships.

i like channel 10, but i don't think any of them are necessarily any different than the others. they all hopped on the bandwagon toward the end of the season.

suddenly it was "OUR marlins have made the playoffs", "OUR marlins shocked the giants". suddenly the two main news anchors are doing shows live from Pro Player... i mean c'mon...

As most of you know the Fox affiliate in Miami is Channel 7 and the Washington Post owns Channel 10. Well the rumor mill is running, and word has it that Fox is in talks to buy WPLG Channel 10, turn it into a Fox Owned and Operated Station similar to CBS4 (CBS O&O) and NBC6 (NBC O&O) and ABC affiliate with Channel 7.

This could be very interesting because the news department at Channel 10 would see major changes under Fox like Fox did with WTVT in Tampa. You would see much better talent and older reporters have a larger role under Fox than they do know. Less editorializing would also be seen on WPLG, the king of editorials, and the station's management would have to create a new 10 pm newscast, Channel 7 would lose half of it's noon and all of it's 10 PM newscast.

This could also help the Marlins since Fox is pro-baseball and could pick up the Marlins from PAX after this season on the proposed Fox 10.

More of this is to be seen.

id say telemundo ... they are always cheering the fish, no matter what.

Yuh,why did they ever cancel that tv show about the marlins with raul striker?

Yuh,why did they ever cancel that tv show about the marlins with raul striker? I don't know. Maybe they will bring it back along with some spanish telecasts with felo.

Some PAX weekend games can be aired on Telemundo 51 with Felo doing play-by-play in Spanish. The Brewers and Angels do that.
