March 18, 200422 yr Samson said the gap is narrowing, but he would not detail how or what sources would fill it. He did not rule out state funding but said the team has been focusing on searching for existing legislation that might help the team, rather than filing a new bill during this year's legislative session. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/pal...=sfla-news-palm
March 18, 200422 yr The fact that they are exploring legislation that is ALREADY in place makes me their biggest fan. I am tired of new legislation being introduced - across the board in politics. People need to learn to use and ENFORCE the legislation currently in place. I think there is ample time and resources to get this done. Feels pretty good...we'll see.
March 18, 200422 yr Author So they are trying to find legislation from the state to fill in the $60 million. Couldn't the county create a special tax empowerment zone in order to help the Marlins pay for the rest of the $55 million if they can't find a partner? I am not familiar with special taxing districts but I believe that the area around the ballpark would be in a special tax zone and if the property value went up because of the ballpark, all new tax revenues would go to the ballpark and so would all sales tax in district correct?
