March 25, 200422 yr This is what they were alluding to a week or so ago when Samson was quoted as saying they were looking at precedents in the law. The big problem obviously is the tax rebate already paid to the PPS guys for the Marlins regardless of whether they play there or not. It puts the legislature in the position of paying twice for the Marlins and it's understandable why they are hesitant to do so. That said, picking up $60 million in predictable cashflow from the state, if it happens, (albeit over 30 years) certainly moves the closer to securing a new home.
March 25, 200422 yr more good reporting by Sarah Talalay. the wheels they are a-turnin'. you can already see the vast difference in tone from the last time a Marlins ownership went to the state for help.... (cough cough John Henry cough) how would they be paying twice for the Marlins? does the current rebate go to the marlins or to PPS/Wayne?
