Juan Cruz has been shipped from the Cubs to the Braves along with pitcher Steve Smyth in exchange for pitcher Andy Pratt and infielder Richard Lewis, according to ESPNEWS.

Wow. I dont know these players, but it seems that the Cubs pulled the trigger on Cruz a little too soon. I think it may be Dusty really does ONLY feel comfortable with veterans. I wonder if we really were discussing a trade for Cruz because I like his arm a lot.

 

By the way, when did Richie boy start playing baseball? Not bad for an old stand up comedian...

Either the guys the Cubs received are decent prospects or the Marlins simply are no longer sold on Cruz.

 

Here's one for you. The Yanks have a bullpen loaded as we know. How about making a deal to re-acquire Felix Heredia? This is totally off the top of my head, but could you see Easley in a Yankees uniform starting at 2B over Enrique Wilson? I can.

Juan Cruz surrendered three runs in two innings today in his first appearance as a member of the Braves.

 

The Braves seem to have Cruz penciled in as a member of the bullpen, but that could change quickly. Will Cunnane and Trey Hodges are better options for the short term.

It all came down to pitching, the Cubs wanted it more than infield help. The Marlins thought the player they offered was enough, but the Braves offered what the Cubs really wanted more then infield help...pitching. Pratt is not a great prospect but was good enough for the Cubs. As per today Sun-Sentinal the Marlins are looking for help via the wire wavier. Which reminds me...hey ramp where did you get your info
