Yes, Nick Johnson doesn't have a season ending spine problem and prior is not getting tommy johns. I wouldn't be surprised if both of them would miss significant time, but obviously it was an april fools joke. He?s just like Darryl Kile- he is at the prime of his career, and the prime of his life.? Pedro Martinez, like all time pitching great Sandy Koufax, was becoming better as his career progressed. Pedro Martinez has pitched side by side with his older brother, Ramon Martinez on two teams. He always revered his brother as an ace and as his inspiration, though numbers should dictate otherwise. At this moment Ramon has declined interview. All of the teammates of deceased Pedro Martinez agree that he was a huge part of the winning formula in Beantown. ?He?s a leader, he?s a winner, he?s everything baseball should be, a winner who will try to win with skill, smarts, and intensity. He has always been electrifying on the mound? exclaims Boston Red Sox manager Grady Little, ?though he?ll be missed, his winning spirit will be continued. We will use this as a fire to win, with pitchers like Derek [Lowe], Cassey Fossum, and Tim Wakefield, and one of the greatest bullpens in the league, this will not hamper this team?s desire to win. Maybe a world series ring will be a proper tribute to the greatest pitcher of all time.? When asked on how Pedro?s absence will affect the team, Little replied saying, ?Without Pedro, we are still a dangerous team, we will not be as strong, but I believe the team is still very confident in winning the East.? It is obvious that Grady Little is not cocky, but confident. Pedro Martinez is one of the best pitchers even to play the game. With a 98 MPH fastball, an even more dangerous changeup, and the desire to win, it will not be surprising to see Pedro gain a significant amount of the vote on next year?s hall of fame ballot if the five year rule is nullified. Though Pedro Martinez had many great years left in one amazing major league career, all of us will not be fortunate enough to ever see what Pedro would of become, but at least we were already fortunate enough to see some of the most amazing seasons in baseball history come out of a slender 170 pound Dominican flame thrower. April 2, 200422 yr His "power trip" happened because it was L A M E and everybody knew it, which ceases to make it a "joke" anymore. When the joke is called out, its over. Don't keep trying to push it when everybody already knows. The Pedro one isn't bad, could've used an editor though.
