FutureGM
I was thinking...wouldn't the Marlins get higher attendance during the week if they opened the upper deck? I mean, having the cheaper seats open will encourage all fans to show up. Plus, it won't look stupid.
Heckeroo
maybe, but they want to fill up the lower deck, which is more expensive
nc marlin
It probably has to do with operating costs.
FutureGM
Are there any other cities that do this? I can't think of any.

They didn't do this before last season at the Pro. And they don't do it at Tropicana, I've been there during the week. The Vet's gone. Heckeroo
actually, i think oakland might do that their upper deck in dead center never has a soul in it
Marlins2003
I asked this question a while ago and the response was that it's purely economics. They have to pay to open up sections above the basic lease for the lower bowl. When you open up the upper deck you have to man it with attendents, ushers, vendors, service personnel, paramedics, etc etc etc. It would be a money losing proposition for them weekdays, at least right now. CapeFish
Tampa, Milwaukee, Oakland, and the Marlins do not like to open the upper deck unless there are enough people to make it 1/3 full.
