May 27, 200422 yr So if you are in a close state, I would vote Kerry in order to further fiscal conservatism...though it is a backhanded route in achieving this goal. With bush, the republicans are simply democrats with tax cuts. I want the 90s republicans back and I'm sure you do too. I agree, the best republicans were the ones that formed from the Reagan revolution, which whether you argue the merits or not it was effective economically. However, Clinton was not as liberal as Kerry, and he was intelligent, so he often compromised with the republicans in congress to get things done. Kerry is a mcgovern type democrat and we defintely dont need one of those in office. Should of been edwards for the dems.
May 27, 200422 yr Kerry will prove to be just as powerless against a dominant republican party. The problem with reagan conservatism was the increase in spending. I am no fan of Reagan.
May 27, 200422 yr Reagan did not increase spending in terms of entitlement only in bureaucracy which is bad but better than all around. Reagan's economics were sound and the problem was he was a keen politician and did not want to lose votes by cutting pet entitlements that were useless but that people were attached to.

I seriously miss newt and co.
