May 29, 200422 yr Author So I guess Disney and Mel Gibson's company both dropping Michael Moore's next film, Fahrenheit 911 has nothing to do with censorship by both those companies despite the fact it has been praised at The Cannes Festival and it's apparent box office draw? Cape, I'm sure you want that movie shown, whether any of you like to admit it or not, dropping that film is censorship because simply their is no risk here. It was a cheap movie to make, it's critically acclaimed and likely to win an Oscar, it's win/win for those companies yet they decide not to show it? I don't think The movie creating controversy is what their worried about(face it Clear Channel and all other outlets want Controversy like this or Howard Stern because it draws ratings, unless something outside it's controvery drove them to drop it). I have to think something else drove Gibson's company and Disney to drop this film and I think Censorship has something to do with it. Rune, the companies have the right to carry or drop the film. The difference is that in Canada, the GOVERNMENT is not allowing FNC to be shown. Frankly, I don't know much about the film, but it would be shown in your normal cinema from what I have seen. Disney and Mel Gibson's company have that right. If it is that good, another company is free to pick it up and will.
